What fruits are good for children?

Children of all ages should be given fruit daily. Fruits contain three important nutrients: fibre, vitamins and carotenoids (beta-carotene) that should be present in a child’s diet.

Fruits and their wealth
Apricot contains calcium, iron, vitamins A and C, zinc and folic acid. This fruit also contains a lot of carotene, potassium and fiber.

Pineapple is famous for containing natural magnesium as well as chain digestive elements.

Orange is a fruit rich in vitamin C.

Banana is the champion in potassium content. It also contains vitamins C and E, albeit in small amounts.

Red grapes, like black currants, contain anthocyanin, which helps prevent cancer.

Grapefruit is an excellent source of vitamin C and fiber.

Pear contains a lot of sorbitol and fiber.

Lemon, everyone knows, is rich in vitamin C. But just like that, children do not eat this fruit. You can simply water some dishes or vegetables with lemon juice. It will turn out both tasty and healthy.

Mandarin contains less vitamin C, folic acid and fiber than an orange, but it has more vitamin A and carotenoids.

Plums are rich in pectin, carotenoids, and vitamin C.

Persimmon contains fiber, carotenoids, and vitamin A. However, some varieties of this fruit also contain vitamin C.

Apples are rich in vitamins A, B and vitamin C, depending on the apple variety. And pectin-fiber, which contains apples, helps to reduce “bad” cholesterol and cleanse the intestines.

All year round, buy fruits for children
If possible, grow your own! In summer and autumn, there is a large selection of apples, pears, peaches, apricots, grapes and other fruits on the shelves. In winter, you can switch to persimmons, tangerines, apples and pears. And, of course, bananas, although not ours, are still very useful for children. It is advisable to buy fruits of domestic production. Still, it is strange that foreign fruits do not spoil longer, they look better, and worms do not eat them. Probably, this is no accident. It is not known what manufacturers stuff them with in order to get a good and beautiful harvest.

A few words about fruit peel
You should not cut off such a valuable part of the fruit, unless, of course, the child is quite small and unable to chew the peel. The fact is that most of the nutrients, and also fruit fiber is found in the peel. That is why fruit juices are inferior to fruits in terms of the content of nutrients. Therefore, wash the fruit more thoroughly and give it to the children along with the peel.

If children don’t eat fruit
We make fruit salad.
Let’s take a beautiful bowl, cut fruit into cubes, pour sour cream or yogurt over it and give it to the child. Children eat fruit salads with great pleasure, choosing from it what they like best. Eat the rest yourself!

We fantasize
We take fruits and cut them into rings, slices, squares, whatever. Try to make something interesting out of them with your baby. For example, banana rings will be eyes, an orange slice will be a mouth, and we will make a spout from an apple slice. Here comes the mug! Imagine and experiment with your children.

“Help yourself!”
I tried this technique on my child, who did not want to eat fruit. Every time we sat down to read fairy tales or play some board games, I slipped him a slice or piece of fruit and at the same time, as if casually, saying: “Help yourself!” Now, whenever mom reads fairy tales, the baby always chews some fruit. The same can be done with raw vegetables.

Often children eat fruit very rarely and without much pleasure. Maybe the fact is that in our time, store shelves are littered with chocolates, marmalades, lollipops and other nonsense that we pamper our children with. After such “super-sweet” products, the taste of natural fruits seems not so interesting to children. I remember that in Soviet times, when children were not spoiled with sweets, when tangerines appeared on New Year’s Eve, children ate this healthy fruit with pleasure! And now you will not surprise anyone with tangerines. Maybe we ourselves spoil the taste preferences of children?
