Handmade muesli

Despite the abundance of bright, elegant bags and boxes of muesli in supermarkets, you should think about preparing this delicious “dry breakfast” with your own hands. There are two reasons for this: firstly, despite the variety of products, it is not always possible to find the composition to your taste, and secondly … the desire to eat it disappears. Homemade muesli is good at least because you know exactly their composition and you can be sure that there is nothing harmful there.
Muesli – a recipe for cooking at home.

So the ingredients are:
– oat (wheat, millet, barley, multi-cereal) flakes of a large fraction intended for cooking (not instant cooking) – 200 g;
– any nuts – 100 g peeled;
– any dried fruits – 100 g.
– pumpkin or sunflower seeds, flax seed, sesame seeds – optional;
– honey – 1 tablespoon;
– butter or olive oil – 1 tablespoon;
– egg white – 1 pc. (can be replaced with two tablespoons of water).

Cooking
Cooking мюслей состоит из трех основных шагов: подготовки продуктов, подсушивания и смешивания.
Preparation: we clean the nuts and coarsely crush them, finely chop the dried fruits (no need to cut the raisins).
My mixture included raisins, dried apricots, dried apples. You can also add prunes, dried bananas, figs, dates, peaches, pears – whatever. Nuts can also be not one type, but several. The main thing is not to overdo it: the weight of fruits and nuts should not exceed the weight of cereal.
To “wet” the flakes, beat the butter with protein and honey until a homogeneous liquid.
We combine nuts and cereals in a bowl, pour the prepared liquid and mix thoroughly.
The resulting mixture is spread on a baking sheet covered with baking paper and dried in the oven at a temperature of no more than 200 degrees for 15 … 30 minutes. The flakes need to be stirred every five minutes and carefully monitor the color – as soon as they turn golden brown, we take them out of the oven.
The final stage: add chopped dried fruits to the cooled flakes, mix and pour into a beautiful box or jar.
Muesli can be served with milk, yogurt, kefir, juice, or by itself, as a “dry food”. They can also be used as a base for making muesli bars.
