Nutrition for a breastfeeding mother – what is allowed, what is necessary and what is forbidden

The nutrition of a nursing mother should be special. On the one hand, it must be balanced, complete and contain all the necessary vitamins and minerals. On the other hand, the menu of a nursing woman should not contain products that can cause a negative reaction of the baby’s body (allergies, digestive tract disorders).

Everyone knows that the products that a nursing mother consumes get to the baby with breast milk. It does this by passing nutrients from the food a woman consumes into her breast milk.

It is very important to adhere to the correct drinking regimen during breastfeeding. A woman should drink enough liquid throughout the day. A nursing mother is allowed to drink purified water without gas, weak tea without sugar, dried fruit compotes, jelly, rosehip broth.

A nursing mother is allowed and should consume the following products:

any cereal porridge (buckwheat, oatmeal, pearl barley, millet, wheat, etc.);
meat and fish of low-fat varieties;
vegetables, boiled or baked;
hard and processed cheeses that do not contain additives, preservatives and dyes;
boiled and baked potatoes;
pasta of any kind;
poultry meat;
low-fat cutlets, meatballs, cheesecakes, pancakes;
dairy and sour-milk products with a reduced percentage of fat content;
boiled eggs, steamed omelettes;
baked apples and pears;
some nuts;
tea with milk, green tea, dried fruit compote;
dry biscuits without margarine.
The following foods are prohibited for a nursing mother:

everything that contains preservatives, dyes and concentrates;
fried and fatty foods;
spicy seasonings, marinades, pickles;
sweet carbonated drinks;
vegetables such as cabbage, peas, radishes, cucumbers;
rich broths;
cakes, pastries;
smoked products, sausages.
Proper nutrition for a nursing mother is the usual proper nutrition that will help establish lactation and protect the newborn from allergies and disorders in the gastrointestinal tract.
