Ayurvedic face wash blend

The classic ubtan recipe consists of a variety of herbal plants, oatmeal, chickpea or rice flour and cosmetic clay. Of course, in India, for the preparation of an Ayurvedic mixture for washing, herbs such as soapwort, neem tree, ashwagandha are used, which are almost impossible to find in our region. But, this is not a reason to refuse Ayurvedic washing.
Nature allows you to harmoniously replace exotic herbs with equally useful plants growing in our region:

* Licorice root, flax seed – contain a lot of saponins, thanks to which ubtan has a persistent soap suds and high cleansing properties.
* Melissa, mint, nettle – refresh and tone skin tissues, have general strengthening properties and are suitable for any skin type.
* St. John’s wort, calendula, plantain, chamomile, oregano, thyme, eucalyptus – anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antiseptic herbs that prevent acne and promote rapid healing of inflammatory processes on the skin of the face.
* Chamomile, sage, parsley – soothing, anti-inflammatory and astringent effect on the skin of these plants allows them to be used as part of ubtan to wash sensitive and irritated skin.
* Linden, rose petals – perfectly smooth wrinkles and soften rough skin.

Cooking ubtan:
All components for the herbal mixture should be taken in equal amounts. For example, you can take a full tablespoon of each herb needed to make ubtan, grind them thoroughly in a coffee grinder or mortar, and place them in a tight-fitting glass jar. And then, before each session of Ayurvedic washing, take two tablespoons of the already composed mixture and prepare a cleansing paste from it.

Important point! The main criterion for properly cooked ubtan is the finest grinding, similar to flour. Therefore, after grinding herbal plants, it is recommended to carefully sift the mixture through a sieve to sift out coarse and large herbal particles.

The second component of the mixture for Ayurvedic washing is oatmeal, rice or chickpea flour. This ingredient is added to the mixture in equal amounts with herbs, i.e. in a ratio of 1:1 (for example, 2 tbsp.).

Along with oatmeal or rice flour, ubtan plays an important role use of cosmetic clay. Traditionally, universal white clay is used, but colored clay can also be used (pink for rejuvenation, blue for toning, black for anti-inflammatory).

For soaking herbal flour for washing according to Ayurveda, it is not necessary to use water. To enhance the effect, the herbal mixture can be diluted, depending on the type of skin, for example:
kefir or cucumber juice (for intensive moisturizing of dry skin);
– lemon juice or low-fat yogurt (to narrow pores and eliminate greasy shine on oily skin);
– milk or natural butter (for aging skin).

With the selection of ingredients for the preparation of ubtan, you can experiment endlessly. But cosmetologists recommend starting Ayurvedic washing with a limited herbal composition.
To do this, you can use the following recipes:
Anti-inflammatory ubtan: oatmeal, black clay, chamomile, thyme, plantain.
Rejuvenating blend: rice flour, pink clay, linden, kelp.
Tonic composition: oatmeal, blue clay, lemon balm, mint, sage.

And in conclusion, it should be recalled that before use, the Ayurvedic wash mixture should be tested for the perception of its components by the delicate skin of the face, and the washing session should be carried out only in a positive mood, thinking about what an unsurpassed result you will get at the end of skin cleansing.
