Sociophobia

Now the word “social phobia” is used so often that it is worthwhile to figure out what exactly you mean when you think that you have social phobia.

Manifestations of social phobia resemble a panic attack: redness of the face, tachycardia, palpitations, sweating, tremor, etc. But unlike panic disorder, a sociophobic attack occurs in the same situation, but anything can trigger a panic attack.

Before trying to get rid of social phobia, you need to figure out what exactly you call this word.

1. You don’t have friends and don’t know how to get to know each other. Your age matters here. If you are a very young person, then such problems may be associated with a lack of communication and dating skills. The challenge then is to develop communication skills.

If you are about 30 years old or more, and it has always been difficult for you to communicate with people, then it may not only be a lack of communication skills, it is worth analyzing your life attitudes and values, because your habits and behavior with people may be associated with them.

2. Perhaps you have friends, but for some reason it is difficult for you to communicate with them, you do not want to take the initiative in contacts, you feel tension. Overcoming difficulties in communicating with people you know is possible by analyzing your relationships with other people, your expectations from them, stereotypes of behavior.

3. You are characterized by shyness, you are not confident in yourself, you avoid companies, you cannot connect two words in a conversation with an unfamiliar person. Overcoming shyness is possible from two sides: strengthening your self-esteem and acquiring simple communication skills first, then more complex ones.

4. Social phobia can also manifest itself in the fact that you avoid any contact with people, for example, getting a job or canceling other important things in your life if they require contact with people. This is a more complex case, you better contact a psychologist. The causes of social phobia can be very different and related not so much to the fact that you have problems in communication, but to your attitude towards success, independence, your lack of confidence in terms of professional achievements, etc. Here, social phobia is only a consequence of some other violations and fears.

In any case, social phobia will not go away on its own, you need to work on overcoming it, but at the same time it is not a fatal character trait that should ruin your life.
