Healthy joints for years to come

In the off-season, as a rule, many chronic diseases are exacerbated. Especially articular: after summer summer loads, cold snaps, drafts and frequent weather changes, discomfort is felt in the joints of the bones. Osteoarthritis is a chronic progressive disease, which is based on the destruction of articular cartilage, followed by damage to other components of the joint. Patients often call this suffering salt deposition, but the term is unfortunate, the process has nothing to do with salts.

The onset of the disease is usually manifested by stiffness of the joints in the morning, after a long sitting, mild pain when walking, which disappears with active movement. With age, such changes, unfortunately, await almost everyone. This disease affects about 20% of the world’s population. Most often, the knee joints are affected, then the hip, wrist and small joints of the foot. It is expected that by 2020 the number of people suffering from arthrosis will increase to 75%. Because there will be more older people. Already now, by the age of 80, everyone suffers from osteoarthritis!

There are several main reasons, these are:
– age-related changes, which we have already mentioned.
– gender: women suffer from arthrosis twice as often as men, especially after menopause – this is due to hormonal changes in the body.
– heredity. There is a predisposition to joint diseases, transmitted at the genetic level.
– malformations of the skeleton, for example, congenital dislocation of the hip as a result of joint dysplasia – while the gait resembles a duck.
– injuries received during life and surgical interventions. The fact is that cartilage, contrary to advertising calls, is not restored! And if it is damaged, arthrosis is right there!
overweight. The cartilage cannot withstand the load and starts to break down.

Osteoarthritis can be primary and secondary – as a result of some injuries or other diseases. But do not be mistaken that the disease is characteristic only of old age. Signs of it are increasingly found at 40, and at 30, and even at 20 years old.

– It is possible by starting treatment as early as possible. Its principle is simple: reduce inflammation and relieve pain with the drugs prescribed by the doctor. And if we talk about prevention, then the main thing is to move!

The first harbinger of arthrosis is stiffness in the joints in the morning. In this case, you do not need to get out of bed immediately, but you should warm up the joints while lying or sitting. Make a “bike”, rotate your feet and only then get up – the stiffness will disappear very quickly. Exercise without jumping and squats! And if some exercise causes pain, this is a signal that it is worth sitting down and resting. Figuratively speaking, you can not whip a sick horse! It is very useful to go down and up the stairs, while you can go down backwards – it’s easier.

The nature of nutrition plays a very important role in the prevention of joint diseases. Do not abuse fried foods – it is better to exclude them from the menu altogether. Choose bread with the addition of bran. Eat cabbage in all forms! And be sure to include vegetables and dairy products in your diet – a dairy-vegetarian diet is indicated for osteoarthritis.

For everyone suffering from joint diseases, especially for overweight people, fasting days on cereals – rice, oatmeal, buckwheat – are useful. You need to cook porridge in water with the addition of vegetable oil, instead of water, you can use decoctions of vegetables: for example, if you have boiled potatoes or beets, do not pour out the broth, but cook porridge on it! It is important not to overeat! Remember the size of a single serving: its volume should not exceed two palms folded into a handful.

Another useful tip: drink a glass of clean water before each meal. In general, it is useful to drink up to 2 liters of water per day – this improves the condition of both the skin and joints. Drink also freshly squeezed juices: potato, cabbage, carrot, apple, they can be mixed. Healthy and very tasty curdled milk can be prepared by yourself from ordinary milk. At night, add a crust of bread, a handful of raisins and a pinch of cinnamon to a vessel with milk – in the morning you will get a wonderful drink!

In any case, treatment directed to relieve inflammation and pain, the doctor prescribes. These are medicines, and physiotherapy, and physiotherapy exercises. Magnetotherapy helps a lot.

In advanced cases, radical treatment is arthroplasty. Recently, it has been used more and more, and large joints – the hip, for example – are replaced according to a quota, free of charge. And this immediately changes the quality of life – a person must move, not move!
