Nonsteroid drugs used by athletes

Aldactazide (Aldactazide: In spironolactone and hydrochlorothiazide)
The drug is a diuretic, is a mixture of Aldactone (Aldactone) and thiazide (thiazide). Often used by athletes before competitions to flush out excess water. For some it works quite well. Most often used 3-5 days before the competition. The drug prevents the release of aldosterone, a hormone of the adrenal gland. This hormone is responsible for the level of electrolytes and water reserves in the body. The presence of a diuretic such as thiazide in the composition of the drug makes the drug an ideal combination for many athletes. The average dose is one tablet several times a day for three days before the competition.

Aldactone (Aldactone: spironolactone)
Release form - tablets of 25 mg, 50 pcs per pack. It is a medium strength diuretic that works by inhibiting the action of aldosterone in the body. In the form of aldactazide, it is often used for high blood pressure. Many athletes find it useful to take before competition to remove excess water caused by elevated levels of estrogen in the body. Recently used by women as an anti-androgen. The drug has the ability to extinguish the action of androgens in the female body. This makes it popular among female athletes who use steroids and suffer from masculinization. In this case, the steroids are stopped and aldactone is taken for one to three weeks, until the level of androgens drops to an acceptable level. The drug, like all diuretics, causes a number of serious side effects: muscle cramps, heart problems, dizziness. Due to its anti-androgenic properties, male athletes only use the drug for a few days in a row. The drug lowers androgens so low that there is a danger of gynecomastia. The usual dosage is one tablet several times a day.

Glucophage (Glucophage)
Famous brand names: Glucophage, Mellitron. Glucophage is available in 850 mg tablets, 40 tablets per pack. Glucophage is the brand name under which metformin, an oral hypoglycemic drug, is produced. Glucophage is designed to prevent the development of diabetes in adults. The drug enhances the body's ability to transport glucose into muscle cells by increasing insulin sensitivity. The drug also reduces the body's ability to form sugar in the liver, thereby lowering the secretion of insulin. The drug is very similar to phenformin, also an oral hypoglycemic drug, but phenformin works more crudely. Phenformin is considered 5-10 times stronger than Glucophage, according to the ratio of the effect from the same amount of both drugs. Glucophage causes significantly fewer side effects than Phenformin. The possibility of an overdose and, as a result, hypoglycemia when using Glucophage depends on the ratio of the characteristics of the body and the dose taken. It is believed that the drug improves the work of insulin in the body. It provides a better recovery of glycogen stores and a decrease in blood glucose levels. The most common side effects from the use of Glucophage are a metallic taste in the mouth, nausea and vomiting. The effective dose is 1700 mg per day, divided into equal parts. It should be taken with food and water to avoid indigestion.

Gonadotropin (HCG - Human chorionic gonadotropin)
Human gonadotropin is a glycoprotein derived from the urine of pregnant women. It comes in the form of injections and is produced in many countries. Pregnyl by Organon, Profazi by Serono, are indicated for the treatment of undescended (?undescended) testicles in young children, hypogonadism (low testosterone production by the body) and infertility in women. Among athletes, HCG is used to stimulate natural testosterone production during or after a steroid cycle. If the cycle is terminated abruptly, especially in the absence of endogenous androgens, this can cause a very rapid loss of newly acquired muscle mass. With the use of HCG, this loss can be prevented. Fakes are not very common. Some athletes have noted unpleasant side effects when using fakes - fever and skin defects, from insufficient sterility of the drug, so be careful. The drug is always packaged in two separate ampoules, one with powder and one with a sterile solvent. The contents of the ampoules are mixed before use and the mixture is frozen for further use.

GHB
GHB, or gamma hydroxybutyrate, is a naturally occurring metabolite involved in formation of GABA (gamma-aminobutyrate). GHB was widely distributed throughout the world until it was banned in 1990. The drug has many positive properties, but is used mainly by athletes, because it causes a significant increase in growth hormone levels (16 times or more). Unfortunately, an increase in growth hormone levels is accompanied by an increase in prolactin levels. Prolactin cancels out most of the positive results caused by increased levels of growth hormone. Perhaps this is the reason for the small increase in muscle mass when using GHB. On the other hand, many athletes report an improvement in visual muscle tone when using GHB. Some athletes noted an increase in strength and "dry" muscle mass. Some do not experience gains in either strength or muscle mass, but note fat loss.

With an increase in GH levels, some other positive effects are also noted. First, GH is a great sleeping pill. Small doses cause a state of relaxation, euphoria and drowsiness. Increasing the dose enhances the effect and the recipient falls asleep very quickly. GH, unlike other sleeping pills, does not disrupt any of the stages of normal sleep. This is critical to achieving a normal sleep pattern, which is essential for muscle rest and recovery.

GHB induces a state of euphoria, relaxation and sensuality while lowering anxiety levels. GHB also causes a number of prosexual effects, increasing tactility (sensitivity to touch), improving erections in men, and increasing the intensity of orgasms. For these reasons, GHB has become a very popular "recreational" drug. And especially among athletes, because, unlike other recreational drugs, GHB does not harm training. GHB is used by many athletes as a substitute for alcohol because it does not cause a hangover the next day. By the way, GHB is very effective in treating the effects of alcoholism.

Now that GHB is banned from distribution by the FDA, there are few opportunities for athletes to get their hands on the drug. The first is, of course, to buy it on the black market. This path has a number of disadvantages. First of all, most of the GHB on the black market is produced by clandestine chemists using cheap raw materials that contain many harmful impurities. Except In addition, most GHB preparations are sold in the form of an aqueous solution, and the exact concentration, and therefore the correct dose, cannot be determined. The second possibility, which is used by residents of the States, is to order the drug by mail from abroad. This is dangerous because customs can track it. The last option is to prepare the preparation yourself. There are different ways to synthesize GHB, some good, some not so good, all of them can be found on the web. The synthesis of GHB itself is not very complicated, but still not as simple as "...mix some NaOH with gamma butyrolactone in a cup and put it in the oven for a couple of hours...". So of course a little GHB will turn out, but very bad. Except того, в смеси останется куча непрореагировавших химикатов. Except того, в зависимости от рН, это может быть опасно глотать.

One of the best and easiest GHB synthesis procedures looks like this:
Safety: Wear gloves and goggles. If any of the reagents come into contact with the skin, rinse thoroughly with cold water.
Reagents:

60 grams NaOH
120 ml gamma butyrolactone
1000 ml pure ethanol
These figures are not fixed, they can be changed, but always keep the proportions. NaOH will dissolve in a smaller amount of ethanol, but this proportion will make the process easier and faster.
Ethanol must be pure, without water - you can not use vodka. GHB will not crystallize if water is present in the solution. Denatured ethanol can be used, but must be completely evaporated before ingestion. You can also use methanol, it only needs 500 ml, but it is toxic and must be completely removed.
Where to get reagents: NaOH, denatured ethanol and methanol are fairly easy to find. Gamma-butyrolactone is harder to find. Some companies sell it online, you can find them using Dejanews. Some companies sell ready-made GHB production kits.
What is needed for production:

A bottle with a screw cap larger than 1000 ml, if using plastic, choose HDPE (this should be clearly marked on the bottle itself).
Glass vessel with a capacity of at least 1200 ml.
Coffee filters, 2 pcs.
Method:

Dissolve NaOH in ethanol - pour ethanol into a bottle and add NaOH. Shake and leave alone until cool. Continue until all NaOH has dissolved. Lid from time to time open to relieve pressure.
When all the NaOH has dissolved (about an hour of shaking and waiting) pour the solution into a glass vessel and add gamma-butyrolactone. A precipitate forms, this is GHB. Set aside for about an hour.
Filter the contents of the vessel through two nested coffee filters, collect the sediment and dry in the oven at the lowest temperature for several hours.
You can store in the form of a powder (in a tightly closed container - hygroscopic). Or diluted in 750 ml of water, this will give a concentration of approximately 1 gram of GHB per teaspoon. Do not use the undiluted solution, it may still contain unreacted NaOH - dissolve it in half a cup of water or fruit juice.

Everyone determines the dosage of GHB for himself. The best way is to take one or two grams on an empty stomach. The GHB should take effect in about twenty minutes. If it does not
