Meditation that really works. Dhiravamsa

neither pleasant nor unpleasant. However, impartiality is usually associated with wisdom and understanding. It applies to those who are on the path. Equanimity operates in the social aspect of our lives, becoming the virtue of a ruler, leader, or parent. Parents should be impartial towards their children. There are two meanings: the first is honesty of action, right impartial action. The second meaning includes not taking sides, making a correct judgment, remaining independent of the influence of any philosophy, group of people or partners. Such is the great quality of kings. In the East, the king plays an active role in society. Therefore, in Buddhist literature, the word dhammaraja, the righteous king, is often found, which is equivalent in meaning to Plato's philosopher-king. The ruler of the country must to be a knowledgeable person, but not just knowing intellectually, but intuitively, with the heart. Impartiality is also essential in family life. Upekkha is a very important social virtue. It can be seen that if in the realm of politics people would realize upekkha, the world would be a better place. The third way of equanimity is a form of meditation called jhana.  In the third stage of jhana, or meditative absorption, equanimity begins to appear. In the fourth stage, detachment comes into balance with awareness. At the attainment of the fourth stage, the meditator develops mindful awareness. If the meditator is not locked into the experience of meditative absorption and is open to what is new that comes to him, a mindful awareness is born that balances detachment. If detachment is too strong at this stage, the person may become passive and spiritually neurotic. But in itself impartiality is beneficial, since it is moral, it is a moral beneficial state of consciousness. The exact proportion is important. We need to find a middle way, or a state of balance. Thus, equanimity in jhana is truly morality, or a moral state of consciousness, a virtue that helps the meditator to go beyond bliss, joy and suffering. Both sides of experience, both happy and unhappy, are transcended when this equanimity is achieved. In the fourth stage of jhana, both suffering and happiness are transcended. But it takes a long time to go through the states of jhana. The first aspect is awareness, the second is the exploration of truth, the third is joy, the fourth is energy, the fifth is clarity, the sixth is samadhi or inner stability or unification of consciousness, and the last is equanimity. These seven factors are divided into two groups. One group is active, the other is passive. The active group consists of the exploration of truth, joy and energy; passive - from clarity, samadhi and impartiality. Now one can see that in the state of enlightenment there is a balance, a harmony between activity and passivity. The only key to balancing the two sides of enlightenment is awareness. Therefore, impartiality is one of the factors of enlightenment and the state of mind associated with samadhi. Samadhi is a clear, united, serene state of consciousness. Equanimity is a different state, but both are connected and can become one. Equanimity is continuous awareness, continuous observation, consistent observation, but with effort; it is a stream of observation without trying to observe or trying to see anything in particular. Whether they are bad or good, they are treated equally. There is no feeling that one is more important than the other. There is no importance or unimportance of what you see. Upekkha is one of the essential factors of enlightenment, treating everything equally, making nothing important or unimportant. Everything is seen as it is, and then everything passes. This is the quality of going beyond everything visible and the observer himself. The visible object does not become important to the mind, and the subject dissolves into the object. There is no self-importance, no subjective opinion about what you see, hear or experience. A very important way of relating to life is the ability to see its negative sides, but nevertheless remain above them. If you can't go beyond negative experiences, you get caught up in these unpleasant experiences. We must be aware that the process of response will still continue, because it is part of the personality, and the personality still exists. But now you are becoming the master, you have the key. That is why it is necessary to develop an equanimity that transcends negative states and reaction processes. You need to understand this clearly, otherwise you continue to nourish your negative states. But over time, the wind blows and puts something inside the house, and the floor becomes dirty again. In this sense, you need to be aware of what you have done. How only everything has been cleaned, purity reigns, but because of feelings, everything can be spoiled again. We all have feelings and sensations through which we interact with the outside world, but in the process of interaction there is a possibility of losing purity. But don't cut yourself off from your feelings to become numb and lifeless. You have to stay really alive, and when you are full of life, you have to use your senses. The use of feelings is both useful and dangerous, but you recognize the danger and know how to deal with it. You have an antidote for all possible poisons. You have a gatekeeper who checks everything that comes and goes through the senses. By staying alert and watching what comes in and out, even in a dream, the gatekeeper can tell you what is coming to you, how to meet your monsters, or what to do about a fearful or disturbing dream. The processes we go through are heavy due to all sorts of defilements and disturbing influences deeply rooted in our system, our body and mind over a long period of time. Therefore, the process takes time and development is difficult. But as soon as you free yourself from all this, you feel inner purity, clarity, impeccability. If you feel that some pollution, something poisonous, is coming to you, you sit down and truly interact with all this on a physical level, on a level of feelings. In this way, we learn to accept states without feeling upset about returning to the old stereotypes. As long as wisdom and equanimity are in place, you can embrace and transcend negative states. Especially when you do certain checks, let it all come, see how strong and aware you are. It is very good to be tested from time to time, which remind us what the criterion of reality is for us. If you have a criterion of reality, you see it and confirm it to yourself constantly, every moment. The more we leave in rest our old stereotypes, the more we realize new awareness. They become a part of life, allowing us to outgrow our old stereotypes, so that eventually they die off. Liberated feelings and clear vision allow a deep understanding of duality. You отделены. When you feel separate from duality, you become something else. Once in this state, you still have to move on, mobilize. Move towards greater clarity. To more freedom. So it was with Ananda, the closest disciple of the Buddha. Everyone around him talked about achieving equanimity at various stages, describing it as something very beautiful, like a climactic experience. Ānanda thought impartiality was a goal to which everyone should strive. Somewhere we can rest, but we know that this is only a rest on a long journey. The second aspect of wisdom is love. Love is the other side of wisdom, which has the characteristics of unification, unity, a state of complete connection into one. Love rejects any differences, divisions. In love there is only unity, the unity of being. When love flows with wisdom, it
