This book is about relieving tension and healing from pain and suffering through Vipassana meditation techniques and spontaneous expression, which, unlike classical Vipassana, is not suppressed, but accepted as part of what happens naturally in the process of practice. Dhiravamsa was born in Thailand and raised as a Buddhist monk. Having many years of practice, deep insights and wisdom behind him, he came to the conclusion that it was necessary to combine classical vipassana with spontaneous expression. He openly and generously shares his experience and wisdom with all concerned.

Meditation that really works

Introduction
He appears to be one of the most creative representatives of Theravada Buddhism in the West. In the West, practitioners of Eastern methods, beginners and even advanced, out of reverence for traditions they know only relatively, often run the risk of becoming somewhat literal, if not imitative. Firmly rooted in his oriental insight into meditation and abhidharma, with a certain penchant for repetition, he improvises in his discourses from his own experience in the ongoing adventure of the learning process. spontaneous expression, which can take place after a sufficiently long sitting and attention, if it is only allowed to exist, which has the effect of healing stress relief. It is not true that in classical Theravada there is no spontaneous expression. Rather, the fact is that very little and traditionally was said about this, such an experience was only acceptable, but not welcomed. Phenomena in Zen Buddhism expressions in the form of bodily movements, expressions of emotion, or manifestations of visions (and this can be considered speculative expression) were generally avoided as distractions. Of course, such a strategy is justified, as the Zen tradition shows, but we can say that the opposite position is equally valid: spontaneous expression initiates a process explained in Indian Tantrism as the awakening of kundalini, dormant spiritual energy in the body, which is welcomed as a process of purification. Thus, for a decade I have maintained the view that both paths should be developed side by side, not only in meditation, but also in psychotherapy and in life, and therefore I have been criticized by one-sidedly oriented practitioners. And I feel even more inspired by his implicit but clear recognition of self-expression as an integral element of meditation, because I believe that it is important not only to recognize the validity of expression as a path, but also to realize that the element of expressiveness (in the broad sense of the term, including the mobilization of "meditative energy" and phenomena, today called "anti-stress") - a component of any meditation, as well as peace and clarity. То, чему учит Dhiravamsa, совпадает с моим опытом, и с лучшим из того, что мне довелось постичь, сначала in Gestalt therapy, then in Tibetan Buddhism: the fusion of awareness and spontaneity. one. Stress relief and healing
The human state of being periodically demonstrates our susceptibility to emotional and psychological burden, stress and tension, as well as physical pain, suffering and disease. We are looking for a remedy or methods by which our problems and difficulties can be allowed. In other words, we want to be free from our circumstances. All this is clearly present in the modern world. With the ever-increasing demand for stress relief and healing, we find that the offer of therapeutic techniques and various forms of treatment is also increasing. As part of the tradition, the society offers doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists, psychotherapists and priests. At the same time, many individuals provide their assistance as teachers, healers, clairvoyants, astrologers, etc. Those in need of help in today's stressful times can quite easily find all sorts of treatments, from gurus and shamans to therapeutic institutions. It is interesting to see how we have begun to respond to our personal situations, difficulties and complex tasks by seeking relief and healing. Obviously, these illnesses, conflicts and pain are related both to human growth and development, and to awakening from psychological sleep and ignorance. - lack of awareness of reality. And the people involved in this quest are discovering that without these kinds of anxiety factors, both on the personal and interpersonal levels, such as marriage or partnerships, or on the level of human relationships, we will never be able to grow to the fullness of the human condition and go beyond its limits. If we take a realistic view of life and the situations it presents us with, we can treat the tragedy and predicament we face as a challenge given to discover and use our inner resources, opportunities and potentials. In other words, we can allow our seeds of humanity to grow out of the experience and wholeness of being, to reveal themselves and to unite with all the circumstances associated with being in this ever-changing world. In this way, we begin to learn how to cope with ourselves and constructively and handle our problems creatively so that we can let go of everything that blocks our growth and maturation, the natural flow of life, and the revelation of our true selves. Instead of feeling like a victim in the face of negative, destructive circumstances or unexpected illness, we come to fully accept what is happening with understanding and patience. And it is the path that removes the barriers that prevent us from experiencing well-being. Then we will be able to cleanse and free ourselves from all the unhealthy, impure energy locked up in our bodies and minds and move naturally and smoothly in the flow of strength and health. In the final analysis, we can conclude that the means through which the release of tension is achieved is ourselves. We just need to watch and ensure that the medicine, release, stress relief and healing are welcomed. This is the end of dukkha (principle of pleasure/pain) as stated by Gotama Buddha. It is a living nirvana, the complete disappearance of flame and smoke. If we turn to our life situations, we can see that within the psychosomatic structures known as the mind and body, many types of flame are burning. We burn under the influence of the flames of irresistible desire, hatred, obscurity, envy, jealousy, pride, ambition, uncertainty, fear, etc. We burn all day and give off smoke at night. This is common to all humanity and leads to an increasing creation and accumulation of all sorts of activities such as habits, rigid response patterns, inflexibility, conflicts, constriction, overly expressive behavior. Feeling annoyed, uncomfortable, nervous and anxious, but not knowing exactly what is happening, we seek compensation in order to hide the true problem, turning away from the real and obvious situation, engaging in activities that are not related to it. This is how human neuroses grow, renewing and prolonging themselves. We keep intoxicating ourselves so as not to feel pain, and as a result we become sleepy and numb, insensitive and deaf to our existence. For example, some people cannot hear what threatens their beliefs, traditions, or way of thinking, and because it hurts them, they turn it into something ridiculous and illogical. Others simply become deaf to the treatment that disturbs or frightens them, or exposes their original pain, requiring protection by the ego-guardian mechanism at all costs (“I don’t want to hear this!”). But, turning to themselves and continuing to return to what what is happening in the present and is obvious, we can sit, walk, stand, move and be with what is actually inside and around us. In doing so, we come to know accurately our internal and external situations and events, which means that we clearly see our actions and reactions and constantly observe them without imposing our ideas or ideals on them. The flame of observation will take full responsibility for burning and removing the unwanted, destructive and unhealthy factors of life. And тогда увидите, what will happen. By accepting who we are and what is actually happening, we naturally reduce our resistance and open the door to sincere interaction and benevolent understanding. At the same time, reality is not distorted and no
