Meditation and life. Yogi Chinamayananda

practice of Japa. And then through meditation God will fill you. If the mind is not raised positively, then it will simply be suppressed, and such a mind is a terrible potential danger, because if it is not controlled, it can explode like dynamite at the slightest spark, and blow up the whole painstakingly erected edifice of progress. If a person only denies, then he comes to a state of impotence and inertia - to death. Hasty, unenlightened, though energetic seekers often unknowingly embark on the path of suicide. Due to the lack of positive qualities of the mind, a large number of brave seekers of Truth slide back into the swamp of ignorance from which they were looking for a way out. Denial is very necessary, but at the same time so dangerous!
positive mind действует, а не просто воздерживается от действий. Suppressed negative desires are replaced by positive desires. positive mind не только избегает зависти, но радуется при успехе других; not only abstains from hatred, but loves; not just tolerant of others, but forgiving; not only avoids lying, but tells the truth; not only is he not greedy, but he is always ready to help.
Freed from negative aspirations, the positive mind, balanced in the world, is free from illusions and seeks the good for all, and therefore flows from it an inexhaustible stream of love for all. The positive mind has active and powerful means of progress. Such a mind easily tunes in to the One, and nothing can prevent it from doing so. So, he becomes a winner in all life situations. That is why all the religions of the world give a list of what to do and what not to do.

Chapter XVI. Direct your mind to new challenges

Filled with the breath of the Higher Life, the moments of silence that come after the cessation of Japa are the Eternal Islands of Truth, rising above the endless waves of the sea of vital activity, the struggle of temptations and desires. We are not accustomed to such inner silence. We have become foreigners for this Promised Land, have themselves exiled themselves from their own Fatherland of the True Nature of Peace, and Serenity. We do not know how to enter this silent, Supreme Life-filled existence and how to bring it into our life. When we are completely immersed in this state of silence, we are in the Realm of Truth, and we have nothing to strive for. However, unfortunately for us, even having felt this state, we cannot fully assimilate our experience. We lack knowledge of the Essence of this experience, we still need to know what is this Supreme and Eternal?
When we know this, the said experience will begin to give us the joy it contains. That is why the Shastras say that Liberation (Mukti) cannot be found without knowledge (Jnana). Therefore, it is clear that our duty is to achieve an accurate understanding of the essence of this "zero point", which can be mistaken for emptiness. If at least once we can understand that this is the moment of the Higher Life, fraught with great possibilities, then we will come to a clearer perception of the True Nature of the "I", that is, Atman. Having this thought in front of you during meditation after reaching the silent moment of Peace, before the manifestation of the first extraneous thought, you can either start singing, or remember the content of one of the following verses and at the same time completely dissolve yourself in its meaning. They were written by Shankara and are known as Brahma Jnanavami (Song of Highest Knowledge):
"Not привязан, не привязан, не привязан я снова и снова.
I am by nature the Eternal Existence,
Knowledge is Bliss.
Я — то, что Notотделимо, Бессмертно, Бесконечно.
I am Eternal, always pure, always liberated - in my Nature
I am an all-pervading, homogeneous mass of Bliss.
I am That which is indestructible, Immortal and Infinite.
Я — Вечный, Бесчисленный, бесформенный, Notсокрушимый.
By my nature I am Bliss, I am that which, etc.
By my nature I am pure Light and
I discover my true self
By nature I am inviolable Bliss, I am That, etc.
In my Essence I am the Inner Light of Intellect:
I am the world beyond nature
I am Eternal Bliss, I am That, etc.
I am the Supreme Truth beyond all Truths,
Shiva Himself, always beyond illusions, the Upper Light, I am That, etc.
I am different from numerous names and forms,
My only Form is Knowledge,
I am Immortal, I am Bliss, I am That...
I've never had delusions or deceptions such as
Feeling the Body, my form is Self-outpouring, I am That...
I am the form of the inner Ruler,
Notизменный и Всепроникающий
I am the Supreme Self, I am That, etc.
I am the Witness of all pairs of opposites,
Notподвижный, самый старый,
I am the Eternal, the Witness of all, I am That...
Я — Сознание, Я — масса Знания, Я — Notделающий,
Я — Notнанаслаждающиися, Я — То ...
I don't need support because I am in my true
Nature, and this is the basis of all things and beings.
I am by nature self-satisfied, I am That...
In the whole world, all things can be reduced to 2 categories -
Subject and object. The subject is the Supreme Truth, and
The object is just an illusion - the whole Vedanta talks about it.
Man knows that he is the Witness, the Liberated One, the Sage,
Through knowledge and repeated practice of discrimination,
This is what the Vedanta says.
Cups, plates, pots - they are all clay in their essence,
So the whole world of phenomenal objects is only the Supreme Truth, so says the Vedanta.
Brahman is Truth, the world of objects and living beings is false,
The selfish sense of separateness is also false.
Jiva is essentially no different from Brahman,
That through which Truth is known is real science,
Science of Sciences. Thus says the Vedanta. Within the Self
light, outside of myself I am light, deep inside myself I am -
Свет Света, Notиссякаемый источник Света, Я Шива! I am That..."

Chapter XVII. Taming the Mind

In the previous chapter it was described how the seeker can find the silence of the heart by suspending the activities of the mind. But if the mind continues to wander, then our practice will only be self-deception. Concentrating the mind on the subject of meditation is very, very difficult. At the same time, the internal struggle resembles the battle on the field of Kurukshetra, described in the Mahabharata: this is an eternal battle. She is the price we must pay for the Eternal Reward of Liberation. It has been explained earlier that the mind is the sum of our past impressions. Thoughts, excited by impressions, memories and desires, flow in an uninterrupted stream, and it seems to us that the mind is an invincible, wild force that will ruthlessly and recklessly hurl our body. We are between good and evil, and alternately the upper hand is won by either God or Satan.
The Bhagavad Gita says that if a person, like Arjuna, makes God (Krishna) his charioteer, then he will succeed. For the seeker completely surrendering his body (Chariot) under the Supreme control of the Divine Charioteer, even misfortune brings success. For every meditator, the main thing is to eliminate the threat from the mind. That is why techniques are sorely needed to help keep the mind at the point of concentration.
Below are methods that I have repeatedly and successfully used. They can be used by you too.
1) Noticing the deviation of the mind from Lakshya, bring it back by force.
2) Sometimes we forget what we are doing, and the mind, left unattended, immediately deviates. Then joint prayers, church decoration, incense, a symbol of God, help. Before prayer, you need to cleanse yourself physically and put on a clean dress. Purity is close to Divinity!
3) During meditation, our attachments and aversions, hopes and demands, desires and passions emerge, they pollute our inner world and take our mind with them. This flow can be stopped by singing a praise to God with open eyes. It happens that very religious people in their spiritual life perform only external rituals. The secret of the success of the religious search is sincerity.
4) It is very helpful for beginners to read the Lives of the Guru and meditate on the Divine Life; this gives our mind a wide field of action, while at the same time having certain boundaries, and directs the mind to God Himself. After sufficient practice in this, reduce the amount of thought to one incident in the life of the most attractive Guru to you. it
training the mind in limiting its activity. Then focus on the image of God or His Symbol. Having practiced this, direct all attention to His face, then eliminate all details, focus on His Divine lips and their blissful smile of joyful Perfection.
If the seeker has reached such a state and can easily remain in intense concentration, then he is almost at the threshold of Truth. When concentrating on the lips, duality still remains, because the lips are different from each other. It is recommended to distract from the lips and meditate on a smile. Then you will realize that to meditate on a smile is to live it and receive a silent message from God Himself. In this practice, success depends on devotion and love for God and on self-denial in His Name.
5) In Spiritual practice, you need to look at the mind, how a mother looks after her child - with love and concern. When a child misbehaves, the mother convinces, not punishes him. And convince the mind of the necessity and benefits of meditation.
6) Sometimes the mother tries to distract the child from the bad by showing him something attractive. In
