Lemon: “King” of Ayurveda and remedy for many ailments

Lemon is considered in Ayurveda as one of the most valuable means of healing. In terms of composition, it contains a lot of citric acid and is rich in vitamin C, so eating lemon has a beneficial effect on the entire digestive system. But the healing properties of lemon are not limited to improving digestion. In Ayurveda, based on lemon, you can prepare drugs for almost all diseases! It is believed that the inhabitants of Indian villages where lemons are grown are almost never sick. Many Ayurvedic remedies that are made from lemon do not require the intervention of an expert, and can be prepared on your own at home. Lemon is not only a symbol of health and vitality (and sometimes wealth, right?) But also quite a tangible support for our health, which, as yogis know, simply does not happen much!

The health treatise “Charaka Samhita” states that in the Ayurvedic system of six tastes (comprising wholesome nutrition), experts distinguish sour taste as “kindling the digestive fire, strengthening the body, enlivening and awakening the mind, giving strength to the senses, increasing strength, expelling intestinal gases, bringing satisfaction to the heart, promoting salivation, swallowing, moisturizing and digestion of food. The sour taste is due to the presence of various acids, and is very rare in food. Lemon is just such a valuable food – with a sour taste – along with lime, raspberries, rose hips and hawthorn). It has a carminative effect, tk. hot and humid in quality.

Simple ways to use lemon:

With increased acidity of the stomach or gastritis, take on an empty stomach (in the morning, immediately after cleansing procedures but before breakfast) a glass of warm water in which freshly squeezed juice of 1 lemon is diluted. This mixture is very good, although it is not necessary to add a pinch of black salt as well. If you have heartburn, add 0.5-1 teaspoon of baking soda to your drink.
For indigestion, any intestinal disorder – either the same recipe, or add another pinch of freshly ground black pepper, as well as salt and honey to taste.
With diarrhea, heat the juice of 1 lemon to room temperature, pour the juice of another 1 lemon into it and add a pinch of black pepper, drink in one gulp.
For weight loss in the morning they drink the juice of 1 lemon with water, at noon – stir 1 tablespoon of natural honey in a glass of water. This simple method should be practiced every day for 2 months.
To get rid of bad breath, to treat inflammation, strengthen the gums, this Ayurvedic recipe is used: take 50 g of rose water and survive half a lemon there, rinse your mouth with this mixture daily.
Lotion for the beauty of the skin of the face: filter through a coffee filter (or cloth) 20 g of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Mixed with 20 g of rose water and 20 g of glycerin. This mixture should be treated with a face before going to bed for 20 days. This tool relieves both acne and blackheads without any chemicals.
A different composition is used specially for acne: 10 g of fat cream and the juice of 14 lemons are mixed, for a month it is necessary to wipe the face with such a “lotion” – the skin of the face is cleansed, softened and shines with health!
A slightly more complex recipe is Churan, a remedy for a complex effect on the digestive system. It is necessary to grind in a coffee grinder 20 g of anise seeds, 20 g of oregano seeds, add 1 g of rock salt. Pour in lemon juice until a paste forms. This paste must be dried on a plate, and ground again. Store in a glass or porcelain jar. Take 1 teaspoon of this powder with a glass of warm water – to improve digestion and strengthen immunity.

It is most useful to take lemons grown in natural conditions, without chemical additives, dyes and pesticides – that is, those that are sold in large fruit and vegetable markets, and not in a supermarket.
