Oral hygiene. What Ayurveda Offers

A lot of bacteria accumulate in the oral cavity, which form a plaque on the tongue. Much can already be determined from this plaque. This very plaque must be cleaned off with a special scraper, preferably twice a day.

The scraper can be the simplest – plastic (freely sold in pharmacies), or you can choose according to your constitution:

if you are cotton wool – steel (or gold) is ideal,

if Pitta is silver,

and if Kapha is copper.

It doesn’t matter if you don’t find a scraper, a teaspoon will help out, but! as a temporary option, it’s better to get a scraper! This procedure is also shown to children, but for them it is just better to use a spoon.

It is better to clean the tongue BEFORE cleaning the teeth (it is enough to walk from the root of the tongue to the tip 10-12 times, while breathing deeply) – this is how most of the plaque is removed, and after brushing the teeth, you can once again go through the tongue with a scraper – this will come out a little more ama (toxins).

Yes! Here’s something else – in addition to removing bacteria from the tongue, cleaning the tongue indirectly stimulates the internal organs, activates agni and digestive enzymes!

Now let’s move on to the teeth. Ayurvedic literature says that it is best to brush your teeth with the end of a sprig chewed into a fringe (you can use oak, birch or any other plants that have an astringent and bitter taste). Brushing takes about 10-15 minutes, but in the end you get a gum massage (for someone problems with bleeding – you can forget about it with this method!), healthy, clean, shiny teeth and do not forget about the absolute naturalness of the “brush”. In addition, you have it new every day!, since the branches are used only once!

Several recipes for tooth powders from Ayurveda, so that you can choose the right one for you.

No. 1.
5 parts alum (or geuchera root or white oak bark powder)
2 parts rock salt (better in the form of “black salt”);
1 part turmeric powder;
1/4 part natural camphor or clove oil

No. 2.

finely ground sea salt
mustard oil
(equally) – stir well and use

You can also prepare such a simple toothpaste:

cumin or cumin powder 1-2 table. spoons,

drinking soda – 1 teaspoon,

table salt – 1 teaspoon,

vegetable oil – 1 tablespoon

lemon juice – 1 tbsp. a spoon.

Mix all ingredients thoroughly and clean teeth.

Number 3:
Mix in equal proportions

finely ground toasted almond shells

and margosa (neem) powder.

No. 4:
Mix in equal proportions

rock salt,

ground cinnamon,

cloves,

mix the resulting mixture 1:1 with triphala (Ayurvedic powder)

No. 5:
Mix 1 teaspoon finely ground sea salt

with honey until creamy

and add 2 drops of clove essential oil

(you can replace cloves with tea tree oil, camphor, pine, lavender, mint)

In addition to brushing your teeth, it is recommended to rinse your teeth daily after meals and in the evening before going to bed:

* for 0.5 cups of warm boiled water,

*1 teaspoon salt

and lemon juice (1-2 tablespoons).

This composition is also the prevention of dental diseases.

here’s a better recipe

(but very good components! I think it will be useful for those who have big problems with their teeth and gums – prolapse, periodontal disease):

1 pinch sea salt+
3 art. l. turmeric (strengthens gums, cleanses blood, antiseptic)+
6 art. l. amalaki powder (contains a very high amount of vitamin C)+
3 art. l. Margosa leaf powder (neem) – one large handful (antiseptic, strong antibacterial effect, soothes excess fire) +
Add a little ground black pepper – “on the tip of a knife” (it is designed to stimulate the gums, is a disinfectant),
Add a little calcium powder (its amount is up to you), =
You should rub the tooth powder in a circular motion near the gums, above their line. You can also rub it into painful areas with your own fingers. To enhance the healing effect, this powder can be used with regular toothpaste.

another mixture for gum massage:
+2 teaspoons finely ground sea salt +
3 teaspoons ground black pepper +
1 teaspoon turmeric
add melted butter until creamy.
Dip your middle finger in the resulting composition and massage the gums in a clockwise circular motion.
