Tips on building a daily routine.

I don’t know about you, but in recent years I have had a constant problem with lack of time, and I have constantly looked for ways to get more of it …

It got to the point that the daily routine of work was clogging up the whole day, leaving almost no time for hobbies, not to mention any entertainment :)

Like it or not, there are only 24 hours in a day, of which, to ensure life, it is at least somewhat desirable to sleep :)

I attended time management courses several times, read smart books, used various useful software, such as MLO, but still did not have time. Of the dozens of tasks scheduled for the day, there are always 5-10 unresolved. 50 of them can accumulate in a week, 200 in a month … Then it’s already scary to look at the to-do list :)

Where my personal time is spent – I evaluated, to delegate tasks, at the very least, I also learned (or rather advanced in this matter). The next step was the experiment with changing the daily routine.

I decided that I needed to create the right daily routine for myself, in order to increase productivity, but in such a way that at the same time there was time for a hobby.

I must say that I have always considered myself a “night owl”. He went to bed quite late, got up too late (if circumstances allowed).

In the evening, when the child finally went to bed, at about 23-00 I sat down at the laptop to finish things. The fatigue accumulated during the day made itself felt, and the performance was, to put it mildly, “not so hot.” At about 2 am I went to bed and then got up at 7-30. Those. it took about 5 hours and 30 minutes to sleep (I always fall asleep instantly).

There was not enough time for sleep, and the whole next day it is, one way or another, felt. Energy comes only in the evening, then the desire to sleep disappears. I slept on Saturday, the only day I could afford it.

When I worked as a mercenary, such a regime, in principle, was not particularly annoying, but when I started doing my own projects and my own business, I realized that I needed to switch to the correct daily routine. I understood, but I was in no hurry, because it is often very difficult to decide to break established habits over the years, and what constitutes this “correct daily routine” was very vague.

The beginning of the change of the regime of the day
The process was catalyzed by a miniature oriental woman with the interesting name Lhama. She works business and personal development consultant. I met her when the broadcast of one program about our project was being recorded. She was invited there as an expert. We got to know each other, and at the beginning of March 2012, during her next visit to Tomsk, she held a strategic session in our team.

Lhama is a very interesting person, she worked as an accountant, then she created her own businesses, then she left for Moscow and in a short time without connections became a top manager in a large federal state corporation (and she was the only woman there), after which, a few years later, having all the benefits, I realized that her path is consulting in the field of personal development of leaders. Since then, she has lost her income, but she is doing what she loves and is happy.

At the end of the strategic session, we touched on time management issues, where Lhama spoke about her experience. I must say that she is seriously engaged in spiritual practices, yoga, pranayama, and follows a strict diet. She also observes the regimen: she goes to bed at 21:00 and gets up at 3:00 in the morning (by the way, Lhama used to also think that she was a “night owl”).

What time and what to use
Then Lhama told what is best to do and at what hours (here I give my notes):

1. It is best to sleep from 21-30 to 0-30, during these hours the body rests best and this time can be multiplied by two, i.e. as if he slept not 3 hours, but immediately 6.

2. It is best to get up at 3 am. At this time, the energy of the Creator begins to flow and it’s time to start preparing the body for work: wash your face, brush your teeth and tongue, drink a glass of hot water, do joint exercises, do yoga, pranayama, and meditation.

3. From 4 am to 7 am – there is the most powerful energy of creativity. At this time, we begin to work, engage in creativity, etc. High efficiency and a large number of new ideas and thoughts are guaranteed.

4. From 7 to 9 – the intensity of creative energy decreases by a third.

5. And from 9 to 12, creative energy gradually begins to decline, ending by 13-00. But it still makes sense to use this time at work for important discussions, brainstorming and other creative activities.

5. The ideal time for lunch is from 12 to 14-00

6. Further, until the evening, you need to deal with that very different work routine.

7. After 18-00 you should not eat anymore.

8. Time from 18-00 to 21-00 is best to devote family, loved ones, friends or training. It’s forbidden to work :)

9. Well, the most difficult. Attention! On weekends, you can not change the mode! In order for the body to finally get used to the new regimen, it is necessary to adhere to it for 30-40 days.

Here is such a “simple” algorithm. :)

My experience of switching to the correct daily routine
I trusted Lhama completely, so I decided once again to change my life dramatically :) For me, this is a very responsible step, because if I change something, then immediately, seriously and for a long time. It’s like in the Way of the Warrior: you can painfully make a decision for as long as you like, but when the choice is made, there is no turning back and you must take full responsibility for it.

So, I started to get closer to the right mode. Not perfect yet. It turns out to go to bed only around 23:00, get up at 5-6 in the morning. What happened during this time I will now briefly describe:

1. The first week it was very hard to get up, the rest of the day I really wanted to sleep.

2. After a week of “withdrawal”, it became easy to get up and, moreover, I wake up without an alarm clock. An alarm clock is an additional stress for the body. You can use a simple technique. Before going to bed, imagine some kind of clock (you can on the phone), very clearly imagine the time at which you need to wake up (directly see the dial or numbers in your mind) and give yourself an internal command or promise to wake up at that time. It works 100% for me with an error of no more than a couple of minutes. Marvelous…

3. In the morning, now I allow myself a full hour-long workout, including joint gymnastics, a small yoga complex, combat practice and meditation. Previously, I managed to devote no more than 15-20 minutes to this in the morning.

4. From 6 to 8 I work, and in these two hours I do twice as much as before for 3 nights. At the same time, interesting and useful ideas and thoughts really come to mind much more often.

5. During the day, the performance also increased by an order of magnitude. Now I have time to complete the tasks set for the day, or all or very little remains.

6. Over time, the practice of the correct regimen of the day – productivity increases more and more. The feeling of relaxation is completely complete. Indeed, you get enough sleep and start every day with a “fresh” head.

It’s certainly not in vain that they say – “He who gets up early, God gives him!” …
