Vegetables on the children’s menu

Most people think that vegetables are some kind of secondary product that only occasionally appears on the table. And in vain! It turns out that vegetables in the diet of children should be present daily and in large quantities.

Raw or cooked? What is more useful?
Experts say that raw vegetables must be present in the children’s diet. It turned out that no boiled, fried or baked food is practically digested without enzymes, which are found only in raw vegetables. They can be given to children whole, in the form of salads, okroshka, or simply cut into pieces. Diversify your child’s menu with all kinds of vegetables, not only carrots and potatoes (which are not so useful, because they are not vegetables as such), but many others. In summer, it can be zucchini, bell peppers, eggplant, celery, radishes and much more that can be grown in our beds. With the advent of autumn, cabbage, carrots, beets or sweet potatoes (Jerusalem artichoke) should appear on our table. For winter time, fresh and sauerkraut, cauliflower, the same carrots and beets are perfect. And grated radish or kohlrabi, seasoned with sour cream, can go well with any hot dish or soup.

Fortunately, in winter and spring, with a rather meager selection of fresh vegetables, the stores are full of frozen ones. You can choose vegetable mixtures or whole vegetables, which are used to prepare vegetable soups or side dishes.

Of course, raw vegetables are much healthier than cooked ones. And if you decide to feed your child with healthy food, remember that the food should be cooked at one time. Storing in the refrigerator and reheating leads to a loss of nutritional value, and sometimes to the appearance of harmful substances and bacteria.

Vegetables and theory separate power supply
Naturopaths consider it important to eat according to the compatibility of foods with each other. It turned out that of the variety of products, only vegetables are perfectly combined with almost all products. First of all, it is white cabbage, green and onions, garlic, cucumbers, bell peppers and green peas.

If the child does not eat vegetables
