Overweight and its consequences for health

In this article I would like to discuss the problem of excess weight and its negative effects on the body. Moreover, please note that we are not talking about diets and model figures, but about real problems that entail not an extra kilogram or two, but noticeable and tangible 15-20.

In this context, it is necessary to refer to the statistics of MedHealth and note that on average, the weight of a person is arithmetically calculated according to the following form: with a height of 163 cm, a person should weigh 63 kg. That is, we subtract a meter from height and get our ideal weight. True, there are small deviations even in these calculations. Women usually take another 10 kg, apparently in order to have more fun. And, in general, most nutritionists in the world work according to this formula, and deviations in one direction or another have a negative effect on the body.

It is worth noting that many people under 30 are not at all aware and unfamiliar with concepts such as diet. This is due to the fact that initially nature laid the duration of human life at 35-40 years. During this period, the individual had enough time to give birth to offspring, which is quite enough within the population. Therefore, roughly speaking, after thirty, the human being becomes, so to speak, unnecessary for nature. And the extension of one’s own life further, and healthy and full, is already becoming the result of independent efforts.

Let’s expand the description of what is happening with health and metabolism a little in order to clarify the situation … The body grows up to 25 – a fact known to everyone. After that, he begins the aging process, which is hard to argue with, but no one claims that it is not possible at all. For these reasons, by the age of thirty, the need for calories per day for the body changes. Physical activity is also reduced. But, if the eating behavior under the conditions of slowing down the metabolism in a person still does not change, but remains similar to the young one, then additional fat deposits begin to form.

Please note that in this context we are really not talking about a little ass or legs that have appeared. The most dangerous is belly fat. In this case, the floor is a disaster evenly located fat under the skin. The only way he can interfere with you is aesthetically. But visceral (intra-abdominal) fat carries real threat. Its properties are the rapid accumulation and production of 30 biologically active substances that provoke increased thrombus formation and atherosclerosis.

Visceral obesity, which is also called abdominal, entails the most important risk factors for cardiovascular disease with subsequent complications, including death. At the same time, it occurs just the same at the age of 35 to 45 years. This is due to the failure of cholesterol and blood sugar levels.

By the way, due to poor absorption of glucose in overweight people, type 2 diabetes can also develop. Glucose naturally stimulates the production of insulin. And in the presence of excess weight, it is poorly absorbed, since fatty acids and cholesterol interfere with the effectiveness of its absorption.

A decrease in the immune system in the presence of excess weight expects obese people too. Ketone bodies, which are formed during the breakdown of fats in large quantities, adversely affect the immune system. After all, the body uses fats preferentially as a source of energy. And here this source, it turns out, rolls over.

The musculoskeletal system, and in particular the spine, also suffer from improper eating behavior. The sacroiliac joints and spine bear the entire weight of the body. Their functional task is to maintain normal posture. The presence of excess weight is tantamount to daily carrying on your shoulders a backpack with a volume from it. Which leads to chronic back pain.

And also this “backpack” leads to insufficient muscle work. Minimization of the load is characteristic of obese people. In fact, it becomes difficult to move around. On average, a person walks 10,000 steps (30-40 minutes) a day, not counting the household load of 2,000 steps. And obese people, due to the severity of movement, sometimes stop moving altogether.

And this can lead to high blood pressure. Since physical activity is not only burning calories and stored fat, it is, first of all, the life of muscles. Muscles are the main consumers of blood in the body. They are able to consume up to 80% of the total volume of blood flow during a serious load. And in the absence of their work at the capillary level, a functional restructuring of the blood supply occurs – small vessels begin to close, which serves increase in blood pressure.

Hypertension is the eternal companion of excess weight. 90% of obese people are prone to it.

Varicose veins are a clear demonstration of excess weight. And it not only visually does not look aesthetically pleasing. It is far from being a good result of your eating behavior.

Excess weight entails infertility – the so-called contraceptive effect in the female body. That is, a woman can lose the joy of motherhood literally because of the extra 20 kg. They cause an increase in the sex hormones estrogen. They, in turn, block progesterone – the hormone responsible for the maturation of the egg (the process of ovulation).

Summing up the arguments about being overweight with improper eating behavior of a person, we can say that the consequences are not limited only to the above listed diseases. This list can be continued indefinitely. But, in my subjective opinion, you can stop a little in fear, but simply advise you to take care of yourself and take action in time, and not bite your elbows later from hopelessness! Look after yourself and be healthy! Being overweight is dangerous!
