Symptoms of Early Pregnancy

Many women who dream of motherhood would like to be able to find out about their situation as early as possible. But nature does not provide mechanisms by which the expectant mother could realize her new status from the first hours after the meeting of the egg and sperm. And although hormonal changes in the body begin shortly after fertilization, a woman will be able to notice their influence only 2-3 weeks after the conception of a child. What are the signs of early pregnancy?

The first symptoms a woman feels even before the delay of menstruation. Enlargement of the mammary glands, slight nausea and rejection of familiar odors – all this may indicate that conception occurred in this particular cycle. But if the expectant mother may miss such signs of pregnancy in the turmoil of days, then after a week the situation will completely change. From the first days of delay, a woman receives reliable confirmation that significant changes have occurred in her body.
How to find out about your pregnancy?

When a new life is born, the whole body of a woman is rebuilt in a new way. Hormonal changes occurring in the body cannot pass without a trace for the expectant mother. Among the early manifestations of pregnancy, the following symptoms are of particular importance:
Delayed menstruation

The first thing a woman will notice is the absence of menstruation on time. If the cycle is set literally by the clock, the expectant mother will immediately go to the pharmacy for a pregnancy test. A completely different situation develops if a woman’s cycle is not regular, and a slight delay does not seem to be something supernatural. In this case, the expectant mother will find out about her new status a little later, when the break between menstruation exceeds all possible periods.

It often happens that a woman takes bleeding for the next menstruation with a threat of miscarriage. In this case, the discharge may be scanty or, on the contrary, very plentiful, accompanied by a pulling pain in the lower abdomen. When such symptoms appear, a woman should seek help from a qualified doctor.
Increased urination

The constant desire to visit the toilet room begins to disturb women already in the early stages of pregnancy. The hormone progesterone, which is responsible for the safe bearing of the baby, increases blood supply to the organs small pelvis. As a result, the bladder makes itself felt even in a half-empty state, forcing the expectant mother to stop emptying it every now and then. An important point: frequent urination during pregnancy should be painless and not cause any discomfort to the woman.
mood swings

Emotional outbursts of pregnant women have long been an occasion for jokes and anecdotes. An unstable hormonal background makes the expectant mother either cry or laugh for no apparent reason, take offense at every little thing and demand special attention. In initially sensitive women, such mood swings may not be too different from their usual behavior outside of pregnancy.
General weakness and drowsiness

The desire to sleep all day without looking up from the pillow is a normal state for expectant mothers. In the first trimester of pregnancy, hormones inhibit the activity of the nervous system, leading to rapid fatigue and loss of interest in the environment. This situation will last up to 12-14 weeks, after which it will be replaced by a period of increased activity, also very typical for pregnant women.
constipation

More than half of expectant mothers report difficulty in emptying the intestines from the first weeks of pregnancy. The same progesterone, the main hormone of pregnancy, is to blame for this. By relaxing the intestinal walls, it interferes with normal digestion and leads to regular constipation.
Dizziness and fainting

This sign is noted mainly in women of asthenic physique, prone to low blood pressure. Low blood sugar as a result of manifested toxicosis, combined with hypotension, can lead to a deterioration in the general condition up to loss of consciousness. Expectant mothers who have noticed such symptoms in themselves should be especially careful while waiting for the baby.
Change in appetite

This symptom appears in the first 2-3 weeks after conception. Some women lose their appetite and cannot eat more than one bowl of fruit salad a day. Other expectant mothers note that they are ready to break for a snack at any time, and three bowls of soup are not the limit for them. It is impossible to predict how the body of a particular woman will behave during pregnancy and how he will react to fluctuations in her hormonal levels.

To confirm pregnancy for a woman it is recommended to take a blood test for the determination of chorionic gonadotropin and undergo an ultrasound examination. An obstetrician-gynecologist can make an accurate diagnosis at the first visit with the results of the examination. When a new status is revealed, the expectant mother is registered in the antenatal clinic at the place of residence.
