Winter Runs: Rules for Runners

It was cold today, so watery eyes and icy air were provided to all runners. But that didn’t stop them. Sub-zero temperatures can’t discourage the desire to run. The main thing is to protect yourself, wear appropriate clothing and have an idea. Here are some practical tips from the regulars of the frozen treadmills.

1. Layers of clothing.
“Put on underpants,” is what mothers say to every child in the winter. And this makes sense, since multiple layers of clothing are much more effective. In sub-zero temperatures, it is best to wear a breathable layer of synthetic clothing, followed by a second insulating layer with a windproof shell. This helps to ensure freedom and ease of movement, and at the same time protects against adverse external factors so as not to freeze something.

2. Lubricate the skin.
Apply petroleum jelly to any exposed skin area to provide insulation from cold and wind. Usually, this applies to the nose, cheeks, chin, neck and earlobes. You’ll be amazed how useful Vaseline can be. Plus, you’ll be harder to catch than an oiled pig in a blizzard. If you’ve gotten to the point of running in shorts on a winter’s day, you can also lubricate your thighs and lower legs.

3. Protect weak points.
Guys, this is about you. Buy the right synthetic underwear that offers reliable protection where you need it most. You only need to freeze the “prichindala” once to realize the value of this clothing.

4.Other device.
Buy a good hat that covers your ears and keeps your head warm, but doesn’t cause sweat to run down your neck and freeze. There are several types of breathable winter hats made for this purpose.
Don’t forget gloves and socks. Sometimes good old wool mittens are more suitable than synthetic gloves. Mittens are always warmer than gloves. On your feet you can wear warm socks made of merino wool.

5. Warn your friends
Tell a friend or family member that you are going for a run far from home. Training in sub-zero temperatures can be dangerous, especially for beginners. It’s also a good idea to take your phone with you. Be prudent and stay safe, then you will look forward to winter runs.
