Low Calorie High Protein Cheese Sauce Pasta

Bye, Alfredo! Better season your “healthy” pasta with a high-protein sauce!

The absence of carbohydrates in “healthy food” is a key point for most people, so it’s better to have them in the cheese sauce. If you want to pick something lean and low in grains and starches, then remember that every gram of carbohydrates and fats should be counted.

But why starve when you can make pasta “healthy” and enjoy it? The answer to this gastronomic dilemma is to make your own sauce!

It is very annoying that cheese sauces contain butter and cream with a lot of excess fat and carbohydrates. Using vegetable protein (peas), I came up with a high protein alternative that will allow you to have a really creamy, cheesy, filling bowl of pasta without the “junk” that comes with a bowl of pasta + alfredo sauce or a bowl of macaroni + cheese..

Pour this sauce over some low carb pasta (I used feather tubes) and see how thinking outside the box can change a dish that tastes great and is healthy for you.

Don’t believe me? Then do it yourself and see!

Ingredients:

½ cup milk (I used coconut milk, but any other will do)
¼ cup unflavored pea protein powder
¼ cup grated hard Cheddar cheese;
1 tablespoon coconut flour;
1 teaspoon dry cheddar powder (optional but adds great flavor)
salt with garlic to taste;
Italian spices to taste;
dry parsley or basil to taste.
Cooking method:

Prepare four servings of pasta of your choice;
Mix all sauce ingredients in a bowl. Bring the sauce to a boil and continue to stir until smooth;
Add sauce to pasta to taste and, voila, pasta is ready!
