Lenten Soup with Nuts

1/2 cup beans, 3-4 large potatoes, 2 onions, 2 pcs. carrots, vegetable oil, black pepper, bay leaf, salt, 4 walnuts.

Soak beans for 30 minutes in hot water. Boil the beans for 1.5-2 hours, then throw in the diced potatoes. When potatoes boil, add bay leaf and salt to taste. Finely chop the onion, and grate the carrots on a not very fine grater. Pour vegetable oil into a frying pan, heat it up, add the onion, and when the onion is browned, add more carrots and fry until tender. Then add the fry to the potatoes and beans.
