Masala Chai

Masala is just a set of spices. As Wikipedia says, “masala chai” means a set of spices for just such a tea. It may be different for other dishes. I have cardamom, allspice, cinnamon (already ground) and cloves. You can add whatever your heart desires from spices suitable for sweets – for example, replace cloves with nutmeg, cinnamon with saffron, etc. The main accents are ginger and cardamom. You shouldn’t even start without them. On a plate – already measured amount of spices per liter of milk. Soak 3 teaspoons of black tea for a short time, literally not a couple of minutes, in cold water to swell a little. You can take more tea, especially if you are preparing such a tea for breakfast. You need to grind the spices in any way convenient for you, but without fanaticism – we will subsequently filter the drink, and the spices will give us their precious aroma anyway. I peeled cardamom, but only today I found out that you can not do this, but rub it anyway. Three ginger on a grater. About a tablespoon of gruel. If there is no fresh – they say, you can take the powder. The pot in which the drink will be prepared must be rinsed with cold water – so the milk does not burn and does not stick to the walls. Pour a liter of milk, add sugar (but honey is better – but, alas, I have run out) – to taste. Also add the swollen tea. Milk begins to boil – add spices, ginger. We make ma-a-a-scarlet fire and cook our brew for 3-5 minutes. We focus on the color – it became creamy – turn off the heat, cover tightly and let it brew for another five minutes. We filter. Can be used directly in cups. The Chinese say that in order to feel full, you need to feel the receptors of five tastes. In my opinion, the drink has everything – well, except for salt. A small sandwich with cheese and a cup of masala chai – my wonderful breakfast helps me think about food for a long time) Spicy diet! To one guest, such a drink seemed too spicy, and he simply added it to his black tea. Also delicious! And this drink is also uplifting – spices and sharpness cause additional, natural production of serotonin in the blood. That’s why everyone in India is so happy)))) Fragrant everyday life and spicy weekends for all of us!
