To have a good memory

They say that a person in ordinary life uses only 10-15 percent of the capabilities of the brain, and this is quite enough for a normal existence. However, not everyone knows how to properly manage this resource.
In fact, almost everyone has a good memory, but not everyone knows how to use it correctly. Compliance with a few simple rules can help to achieve high-quality memorization of any information and never again complain that something important has “flew out of your head” again.

First of all, let’s take care of the material basis of memory. Information in the human brain is imprinted in the brain cells and the connections between them, which means that for the efficient operation of memory, the brain needs energy and building material for the cells. In addition to such a general rule of healthy eating as maintaining a balance of fats, proteins and carbohydrates, there are substances that are especially important for the brain.

First of all, these are B vitamins. They are necessary for the proper metabolism of proteins, and also play a key role in the memorization processes themselves. Vitamin E provides the energy needed for brain function. When used properly, it can even improve memory or slow its decline in diseases of the nervous system like Alzheimer’s disease.

Carbohydrates are another important source of energy for brain cells. It is important to remember that they are divided into fast and slow.

Fast carbohydrates are found in sugar, chocolate, chips. They give a quick rise in energy and performance, but the decline comes quickly. Slow carbohydrates are found in cereals and vegetables (excluding beets and carrots). It is preferable when it is slow carbohydrates that enter the body, since then the energy supply will be enough for the whole day.

In addition, some vegetables and fruits contain trace elements that help memory. Beans, cabbage and horseradish improve the performance of the brain as a whole by activating the transmission of nerve impulses. Lecithin, which is found in seeds, walnuts, eggs, is necessary for the construction of cell membranes, including brain cells. Bananas contain potassium and serotonin, which improves mood and improves performance.

Now let’s turn to the process of memorization itself.

First of all, remembering an incoherent set of information is really difficult and not everyone succeeds. Much easier learn data if they are related. Therefore, look for a system in the data, even if you know that it is not really there. Use associations! This is especially useful when it comes to remembering an address or phone number. To memorize numbers, they often use, for example, words that begin with the same letters as numbers. People with a developed visual memory may find it convenient to represent numbers in the form of picture elements.

Do not forget that the memory needs constant training. Do not be lazy to come up with small exercises for yourself every day – remember a few phone numbers, remember the sequence of events of one day, arrange in your mind the names and acquaintances in alphabetical order.

You also need to practice retrieving information from long-term memory. The two easiest ways to combine business with pleasure are to solve crossword puzzles and memorize verses, or at least fragments of them. It will take a little time, and even the busiest person can find it, and memory will reward it a hundredfold.
