How to run in bad weather

An easy run under the rays of the morning sun at a temperature of +20 degrees is exactly what is associated in the minds of many beginner runners. But in reality, it turns out that ideal weather conditions for running are extremely rare. Most often you have to run in the heat, then in the cold, then against the wind, then in the rain. And how exactly to behave in this or that weather and whether it is worth going for a run at all in such conditions, I will tell in today’s article.
Running into the wind
The wind can be of different strengths, and we will not talk about a light breeze that helps to cope with the heat in summer, but about a strong wind that makes it difficult to run.

No matter how the wind helps when it blows in the back, it still interferes more when you start running against it. That is why it is necessary to choose a route so that the wind blows sideways all the time. Otherwise, half of your route will be downwind and half against it.
As an additional load, the wind works well. But running is not a sport in which you do not know how to complicate your life. If you understand that there are a lot of forces, you just run either faster or more. And the wind is absolutely not needed here.

Be sure to wear glasses. There is always dust in the air. And the wind drives this dust at high speed. And when it gets into the eyes, it’s already not up to running.

Do not wear visored hats. You will try to tilt your head all the way so that your cap does not come off. Or you will have to tighten it too tight, which is also not called convenient. In extreme cases, turn the visor in the opposite direction.
As for the running technique, in the wind you have to push the toe off the surface more strongly. Therefore, be prepared that your legs will get tired much faster than usual. It’s like you’re running uphill all the way
Running in extreme heat
In extreme heat, I advise beginner runners not to go for a run. But if you can’t wait to get some fresh air, or if it’s hot all day long and you don’t have to choose, then you need to follow a few rules.
Drink water. Drink it as much as you want. The only thing, do not bring to the state of “gurgling” in the stomach. Drink during, before your run, after it. Dehydration in extreme heat is the worst thing that can happen. There will not be enough moisture for the body, and you will no longer be able to run. Try to build your route in such a way as to run past springs or water columns. Or take the money and buy in the middle of the road a small bottle of mineral water.
Headwear is required if you have little hair on your head. Sunstroke on a hot and sweaty head will “arrive” very quickly.

Wear a sweat band or wrist bandage. During the run, sweat is released very strongly and will simply begin to pour into the eyes. You understand, salt that gets into the eyes will bring little good.

Always run in a T-shirt or tank top (for girls). You can’t run bare-chested. The sweat will dry on the body from the best sun, while the salt will remain. She will clog pores and it will be very difficult to run. And the T-shirt will act as a sweat collector that will not dry out on the body.
Do not pour water on your head, but pour water on your feet and hands. The head should not be poured, because a wet head is much more exposed to the rays of the sun. Water in this case will act as a magnifying glass, which will increase the effect of sunlight at times.

And the legs and arms should be doused in order to wash off the sweat and the muscles could breathe better. Try it and you will feel how it helps.
Running in the rain
Running in the rain ничем не отличается от бега в обычную солнечную погоду. Really. You do not need to use special running techniques or know any features. You just run and that’s it. There are no breathing problems.

Seems. That in the rain while jogging you will inhale water. This is not so, pure water does not enter the lungs, but good ionized and humid air does. Therefore, for breathing, running in the rain is very good.
The only thing is, if the rain is cold and it’s cool outside, then you should dress warmer and better in something waterproof. For example, in a Bolognese tracksuit.

If there are a lot of puddles on the street and it is impossible to run around them, then so that your feet do not get wet in cold water, put on plastic bags over your socks. Then your feet will get wet only from your own sweat. But the sweat is warm and you won’t get sick from it.
