Features of a marathon and its impact on the body

Marathon running is the most difficult running discipline in athletics. This is a run for the longest distance, which is 42 kilometers 195 meters. Athletes participating in marathon competitions must have not only strength and special endurance, but also demonstrate the highest volitional qualities. Running such a long distance is a rather difficult test for the body. It not only requires excellent fitness of the musculoskeletal system, but also tires the psyche. But this is precisely the main advantage of training a marathon runner. Long-distance running gives the athlete confidence in his abilities, teaches complete self-control, the ability to relax while running, and develops speed abilities.

Marathon running puts the most stress on the cardiovascular system. If you engage in this type of athletics after special training, you can achieve a significant improvement in the work of the heart, prevent the development of various diseases. But such an effect is possible only for a trained athlete.

If you start marathon running without the appropriate skills, you can overload your heart and cause significant harm to it. The thing is that the heart muscle in the process of marathon running completely rebuilds its activity in order to successfully cope with huge loads that border on powerful stress. Only those who gradually, over a long period of time, prepared themselves for such loads can withstand such a restructuring.

Preparing to run a marathon can also have a negative effect on the body of an unprepared runner. The basis of such training is running a distance of 12 kilometers daily for 12 weeks. Such training leads to an overstrain of the heart and nervous system. Therefore, without the presence of special skills, only harm can be done to health.

In addition, during a marathon, an athlete loses a lot of fluid through sweat. This leads to a noticeable increase in temperature, increases the risk of heat stroke, which can even lead to death.

That is why, in order to successfully run a marathon distance, you need to train long and hard. Cross-country running, running on the most diverse terrain with climbs in mountain, overcoming long distances with their gradual increase – all this helps to improve the work of the cardiovascular and nervous systems, prepares the body for more and more stress.

Success in a marathon can only be guaranteed by systematic training. In addition to the constant increase in physical activity, it is necessary to master various techniques of psychoregulation, breathing and hardening of the body. Then you will be able to control yourself, feel confident, gain increased motivation.
