What only confectioners and cooks did not invent from milk and cream! A variety of fermented milk products, creams, condensed milk, cheeses and cottage cheese. But no matter how useful and necessary it is – raw milk – for the children’s body, most children prefer it for some reason in a frozen form.

At the same time, it is interesting that even at the dawn of its formation as a dessert and treat, ice cream was not made from milk. But even then it was “ice cream”.

History of ice cream
Already in ancient Israel, in the era of King Solomon, it was customary to cool fruit juices as much as possible to better quench their thirst. And when, in a very warm climate, local culinary specialists managed to freeze juices, these ice cubes were considered a real dessert. The ancient Greeks had similar traditions, but the real progenitor of modern ice cream first appeared in China. It was there that noble nobles and kings were served dishes of ice, snow and various fruits at feasts.

And the tradition of freezing milk to get a treat is originally Slavic. Even in Kievan Rus and in medieval Russia, the tradition was to freeze milk and various products – cottage cheese, sour cream and yogurt. Before serving, they were crushed, mixed with raisins and sugar and received a real delicacy.

In medieval Europe, where the secret composition of ice cream was brought from China by Marco Polo, it was an exclusive delicacy. Not only that, in the same Italy and France, ice was difficult to obtain in sufficient quantities. Keeping it was also a challenge. As a result, ice cream was considered the delicacy of kings. But the popularity of the product did not give rest to the inventors, and the first refrigeration units for the production of ice cream appeared at the beginning of the last century. And since then, it has confidently conquered the world.

What is ice cream made of? From milk or cream with the addition of various amounts of natural or artificial flavors, fillers, dyes, and substances that maintain the desired consistency. It is here, in ice cream, that the most difficult thing is to avoid the addition of various non-nutritional components. After all, the composition of ice cream should be thick, homogeneous, but at the same time soft enough. However, dessert ice cream served in restaurants and does not require placement on a stick can rightfully be considered truly healthy, since it consists almost exclusively of cream and fruit.

But any – both restaurant and ordinary store – ice cream is a very energetically valuable and nutritious product. Most often made from cream, the composition of ice cream contains sometimes 20% fat and the same amount of carbohydrates. Therefore, it can hardly be called a dietary product. And additional additives in the form of chocolate icing, powder, fruit and sugar syrups further increase the sugar content in the milk treat, which in the same way increases its effect on metabolism.

But don’t worry! If you do not make a cult out of ice cream and use it occasionally and for pleasure, then the body will cope with everything, take only the most useful from the dessert and tell you how good it feels. And then you can safely enjoy a variety of types of this wonderful dessert.

And there are a lot of varieties of ice cream. All of them can be divided into the following groups:

1. Milk ice cream.

The most popular and widespread. It is made with a wide variety of additives, sold in waffle cups and on a stick, added to cakes and other desserts. It is milk ice cream that is the basis of popsicle, one of the most popular types of ice cream in the world;

2. Frozen juices.
