Skimmed milk. Good or Bad?

There are conflicting opinions about the benefits of skimmed milk. Manufacturers widely advertise the benefits of this product. However, independent studies by non-profit foundations have found numerous health problems associated with the consumption of skimmed milk. At best, the health benefits of skimmed milk are questionable. Some unbiased studies have even shown that there are no benefits. Here are some arguments against skimmed milk.

Skimmed milk can lead to vitamin deficiencies

Whole milk contains vitamins A and D in milk fat, which aid in the absorption of proteins and calcium. When the fat is removed, the body uses the reserve reserves of these vitamins to absorb protein and calcium from the same skimmed milk. So skimmed milk actually contributes to nutritional deficiencies as the body depletes its vitamin stores.

Skimmed milk contains dry milk concentrate

Skimmed milk is not just milk with the fat removed – in this form it would be too watery to consume and would not look like milk. Manufacturers solve the problem simply – dry concentrated milk proteins are added to skimmed milk to give it the proper milky appearance. Powdered milk concentrate is produced using a high-temperature process that denatures proteins. And, as you know, the denaturation of proteins makes it difficult for the body to assimilate them. In addition, the high-temperature process produces bad cholesterol, LDH (low density cholesterol), which can contribute to heart disease.

Pasteurization reduces the nutritional value of milk

While the public health community welcomes pasteurization as a necessary measure to keep milk safe, the process has a downside. Pasteurization destroys live enzymes and destroys the fine structure of the milk protein, which prevents its digestibility. Raw milk, on the contrary, is easier to digest and its live enzymes help the body process lactose and absorb vitamins. Many people who are lactose intolerant find that they can drink raw milk without any problems.

Advertising low fat milk is a marketing gimmick

Skimmed milk is advertised as a health food to make extra profit. Still, if you separate fats from milk for the production of more expensive products, such as whipped cream, ice cream, etc., and then sell the separated liquid, you can warm your hands well. All that remains is to promote an advertising campaign so that people perceive skimmed milk as a healthy, useful and necessary product. Despite aggressive advertising, it should be noted that there is a lot of evidence that skimmed milk is not a healthy product, rather the opposite.
