How to find an incentive and motivation to exercise

It’s no secret that regular physical activity and a healthy diet are necessary for the formation of a beautiful, embossed and healthy body. Incentive and sport are very related. But it happens that even professional athletes lose their motivation to exercise. Lack of incentive can nullify all sporting achievements. For athletes, such disinterest is fraught with exclusion from professional sports. And for amateurs and those just starting out on the fitness path, the loss of sports enthusiasm can prevent you from building the body of your dreams.

Looking for and maintaining motivation
Before you start exercising, you should honestly answer the following questions to yourself:

Why You Need It?
Do you want to get rid of extra pounds? Or are you interested in chiseled muscle relief?
What will the new figure give you?
What will you do to achieve your goal?
After answering these questions, a person, as a rule, easily finds the right motivation for himself to engage in an argument at home or in a fitness center.

Sports psychologists and fitness coaches recommend making specific lists of sports goals that you want to achieve. Goals should be clear, realistic and preferably written down. Opposite each goal, you must put the exact date after which you plan to achieve the result. No vague wording like “become slimmer or more enduring” is allowed. The more detailed and clear the goal is, the more likely it is to be achieved. For example, on the 20th of such and such a month, my weight is 5 kg less, or on January 3, I squat 100 times, etc.

Be sure to schedule your sports workouts, especially if you decide to exercise at home. In a sports notebook, write down the days and duration of classes. It is desirable to draw up such a schedule at least 1-2 months in advance. After each successful workout, mark the result in a notebook. And if for some reason the lesson did not happen, reschedule it for another day.

In order not to lose motivation for sports and enjoy the process of training, you need to choose exactly the type of fitness that you like. To do this, you can experiment by signing up for several types of training at once.

Another stimulating and motivating factor in sports is training with girlfriend or partner. The spirit of competition and the realization that you are not alone in fighting laziness have a positive effect on athletic performance.

Sports experts strongly recommend reading relevant stories or books about the successes of athletes, people who have managed to challenge themselves and achieve sports results. Surround yourself with like-minded people with whom it will be interesting for you to discuss your victories and seek support. A poster featuring a famous athlete or a person with a beautiful figure can also serve as a great motivation for exercising.

Working with excuses
Having decided on the motivation, it is necessary to immediately work out the possible reasons for the lack of incentive to play sports. Usually, even after a tracksuit, sneakers and a subscription to a fitness room have been bought, a person begins to be overcome by laziness and unwillingness to continue the work he has begun.

As a rule, the very first excuse people have is the financial inability to go to the gym or pay for the services of a fitness instructor. Of course, if the family or personal budget does not allow you to allocate some amount for classes in the fitness center, it is very difficult to maintain a “combat mood” aimed at changing the quality of your body. And yet this is not a reason to fall into despondency and idleness. Today, there is a huge selection of sports equipment with which home sports will not be inferior in terms of effectiveness to training in a fitness center. And sports such as running or Nordic walking generally require a minimum of costs.

The lack of sports equipment is also not a reason not to play sports. Any dumbbells are easy to replace with water bottles or bags of cereal or sand. A worthy alternative to a cardio machine would be a regular skipping rope. For a novice athlete and in the conditions of home training, such equipment will be quite enough.

Some people, at the mention of physical activity, begin to complain about the lack of free time. In this case, time managers recommend that you write down each of your actions / inactions during the week and note the amount of time spent on them. After some time, you should analyze where you spend most of your time. As a rule, after such a time analysis, a person discovers hidden temporary resources. So, watching a series can be combined with stretching, and walking with children can be combined with street fitness.

We create incentives
Sometimes, even with a clear and strong motivation, a person may lose the desire to play sports or continue training. In this case, artificially created motivational factors – incentives – can come to the rescue. For example, you can make a money bet with someone. Of course, money itself will not be the goal of your studies, but material incentives, like nothing else, affect the psyche of people.

Equally stimulating is the challenge to oneself. And if other people find out about your decision to lose weight or do push-ups regularly, then the chances of giving up and quitting everything will be much less.

Another incentive to go in for sports is the purchase of a quite expensive subscription to a gym or fitness studio. The reluctance to lose the money spent can make you, willy-nilly, but go to the gym. And then, getting involved in the process, you can no longer stop.

An incentive for active sports activities for athletes can be the conquest of new cups, medals or categories. A simple layman can also come up with a reward for himself. A new dress, a trip to the sea or the purchase of a new gadget can act as a trophy.

Properly selected motivation, supported by a clear incentive, will help you achieve your sports goal.
