The Art of Qigong. Won Kyu Kit

Won Kyu Kit Qigong Art

FOREWORD

This book is for those who want to be healthy in every way: physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Here are techniques and exercises that will increase your vitality, so that you will achieve great success in work and creativity. You will always enjoy the purity of thoughts and freshness of consciousness and find peace of mind. All this will give you qigong.
Qigong is the esoteric art of mastering energy. The book reveals esotericism, the mysterious becomes simple and understandable. No preliminary preparation is required: all concepts and concepts are described in a language that a Westerner is used to. Gradually, step by step, you will become familiar with all the important concepts of this art, and at the end of the book you will learn about the most difficult ones.
This paper describes the following important sections of qigong:
— history, philosophy and field of activity of qigong;
- qigong for longevity health;
- significance for sports, sex and youth;
- inner strength of martial arts;
— training of miraculous consciousness;
- the highest achievements of qigong.
Qigong is discussed in great detail in the book. Therefore, you can choose only those chapters that are interesting or useful to you, and read the rest later. You can only read for pleasure. Due to cultural, philosophical, and other considerations, some readers will find other descriptions unbelievable, even impossible. However, most of the examples have been verified by my students and myself. Examples that go beyond common knowledge are borrowed from great teachers and famous masters. However, I ask you not to take anything written here on faith, relying only on the authority of the source. Master the proposed principles and exercises by trying to understand them, and evaluate the merits of the principles and methods only after careful examination.
It should be noted that qigong is not so much an intellectual discipline as a practical one. It is not enough just to read and understand the essence of qigong (although this is useful in itself). Whoever wants to appreciate and use the art to its fullest must practice. When mastering any business, practice is necessary. So, to learn to play the piano tolerably, it takes several months. It will also take a few months for the child to learn to dress yourself. Therefore, it is unrealistic and unreasonable to expect mastery in qigong, as in any other art, without proper training.
The art of qigong is not religious. They can be practiced without fear of hurting any religious beliefs. At a higher level, the art of qigong acquires spirituality, goes beyond the physical. However, many people practice and benefit greatly from physical body training, leaving aside the emotional, mental and spiritual aspects.
The exercises are carried out in stages, but there is no need, and I do not recommend doing them all at once. Practice has shown that the best result is achieved when practicing one technique for several months. If you wish, you can sometimes perform several exercises from another complex for a change. After devoting a few months to studying a particular technique, you can move on to another.
The qigong exercises are explained in such a way that the reader can practice the book on their own. However, it would be very helpful for a beginner to find an experienced instructor. Moreover, it is not necessary that the instructor master the qigong style described in the book. A good knowledge of at least one style gives an understanding of the general principles of art. If you could not find an instructor, then you need to practice more patiently and carefully, but without false fears and hesitations.
The ancient Chinese, like other great peoples, did not isolate knowledge. Thus, many scientists and qigong masters were poets at the same time. They often presented the results of their work in poetic form. Many of the quotations given here were originally poems, translated by myself. If you don't find them poetic, it's my translation that's to blame, not the quality of the original. In some cases, the original word order and syntax have been changed to suit rhyme and meter, but the intended meaning is preserved. In my opinion, truthfulness and beauty can and should coexist.
I am convinced that by devoting myself to qigong, I made the only right choice in life. I hope to convince you to devote yourself to qigong. I enjoyed every minute of working on the manuscript. I wish you to enjoy reading and get the most out of the book.

WARNING

The explanation of qigong techniques is given clearly and systematically, but neither the author nor The publisher is not responsible for harm or undesirable consequences that may result from reading this book or performing the exercises described here. The responsibility lies entirely with the reader.
However, don't worry too much. Except for high-level techniques, where special precautions are given, proper qigong practice is safer than walking.

PART ONE. HISTORY, PHILOSOPHY AND SCOPE OF QIGONG

CHAPTER FIRST. WONDERFUL WORLD OF QIGONG

The source of life, birth and change is qi. Everything in heaven and on earth is subject to this law. On the periphery, qi embraces the universe; inside, qi gives rise to everything.

SOME INCREDIBLE STORIES

“Let's go get the ball, kids,” Ramnam said to his grandchildren. No one, looking at the energetic Rumnam, would have guessed that just a year ago this kind grandfather had serious heart problems. So serious that his attending physicians doubted whether the old man would walk again.
The charming young teacher Sharifa knelt down and took a slow, deep breath. Suddenly, with lightning speed, she struck the brick with her hand. It was the brick that broke, not her frail hand. When the loud applause died down, one of the spectators was surprised: “How did she manage it? She has such tender hands!”
While talking to Qing, a high-ranking government official, some were perplexed, while others were delighted. He often answered a question before it was asked. “How do you do it?” they asked him. “I read the question in your head,” he replied with a smile.
The described events took place at different times, but they have something in common - both Ramnam, and Sharifa, and Qing learned qigong from me. Their energy or ability arose from the practice of this marvelous art.

REVEALING SECRETS

Not surprisingly, many readers have never heard of qigong - the ancient art was kept in strict secrecy until twenty years ago.
We are often suspicious and distrustful of an unknown object, despite the fact that other people were able to appreciate it. This remark is extremely relevant when considering the practice and philosophy of qigong. Some may not realize the full depth of the wisdom of the East and are shocked by contact with it. They should refrain from automatically recognize as impossible or absurd the way of thinking and behavior of another culture alien to them and try to delve into the customs of another people.

THE ART OF ENERGY DEVELOPMENT

Qigong is the art of developing energy, especially for health, inner strength and mind training. In Chinese, energy is called qi.
Qi is the same energy that allows you and me to walk and talk, work and play, philosophize and observe, that is, to do everything that is necessary for a fulfilling life. The energy that turns the meal you just ate into flesh and bone is also chi. It sets the necessary muscles in motion when you smile; defeats hostile microorganisms attacking your body; transmits impulses from the brain to various organs and tissues and performs countless other processes inside the human body. We don't realize it, but it is she who sustains life on this planet.
Of course, qi is obtained not only with the help of qigong. Usually people acquire qi, or life energy, from the air and food. But practicing qigong greatly increases our energy, allowing us to achieve more in life.
In addition to maintaining life, the most important and often overlooked function, qi does many other useful things. There are three main areas where qigong is especially valuable - health, inner strength and mind training. There is another direction (for those who are ready to accept it) - spiritual perfection.
Qigong is excellent at curing diseases and improving health. One of the Chinese proverbs says that qigong cures hundreds of diseases. It is clear that many readers will consider this an exaggeration, but the following chapters not only show why the art of qigong is miraculous, but there are many examples that support this seemingly groundless assertion.
Obviously, the internal force is directed from within our body. It must be distinguished from external, usually muscular or mechanical and sometimes brute force. Above it was said about a young woman who broke a brick with her fragile hand. Here is an example of the application of inner strength. If you can work cheerfully and energetically all day long and enjoy spending the evening with your family, you too demonstrate inner strength. Qigong develops it, and from what follows you will see how.

MIND TRAINING AND SOULS

The concept of the unity of the body and consciousness has prevailed in the thinking of the sages of the East for centuries. In addition to keeping the body healthy and beautiful, qigong is excellent at training the mind. The mental aspect of qigong practice is very important at all levels, although many beginners may not understand this. It usually receives a lot of attention in the advanced stages of the study of art, when fantastic things become possible. The highly developed intuitive consciousness of a qigong master, perhaps more than any other factor, is responsible for doing seemingly impossible things. In the book you will read how and why
