Yoga and Ayurveda in 10 simple lessons. Eliza Tanaka

"You become what surrounds you." Your sensations absorb the environment around you. Through the right use of the senses, we can make choices in harmony with the world around us.
Most of the methods of pratyahara are to push away from the burden of external sensations and move to peace and silence within us. Deep relaxation is also part of pratyahara, which is to bring the motor organs to a calm state. Most asanas should end with some form of pratyahara, such as the use of Savasana.

6. Dharana
Dharana consists of concentration practices that organize and stabilize attention. Attention is the main power of the mind. We must learn to exercise it like a muscle if we are to develop our higher mental faculties. Otherwise, we will fall under the control of external forces and will not be able to realize our higher purpose in life. By cultivating the power of attention, we will contribute to the fact that all the possibilities of the mind will gradually open up before us.
Typical methods of dharana consist in concentrating on various chakras (internal energy sources) or prolonged attention to some object (for example, on a candle flame), until the mind becomes calm and stable. By keeping the body in a stable posture, the asana helps to concentrate the mind.

7. DHYANA
Dhyana refers to meditation, which is prolonged concentration or deep contemplation on some mental object. Through holding "single point" attention, we can come to a deep understanding of the reality of whatever we meditate on. Whatever we focus our full attention on, it will reveal its inner meaning to us. Everything in life speaks to us if we can enter into a meditative state of mind. The greatest instrument of knowledge is not a machine or a book, but our own consciousness that has reached stability.
Meditation is the main method of classical yoga, the purpose of which is to control the mind. The various meditation methods in yoga include Self-knowledge, recognition of the Divine (formed or not), religious practices, energy practices, and the use of mantra (the very first sound). Асана успокаивает тело, для того чтобы помочь успокоить сознание для meditation.

8. SAMADHI
Самадхи состоит в слиянии ума с объектом его внимания, что происходит естественным путем в процессе длительной meditation. When consciousness becomes one with its object, we experience deep peace and bliss. We understand everything we see as a side of our own larger and more universal nature. We can probably better understand samadhi as total concentration in which we are so completely committed to what we are doing that we completely forget about ourselves. We return deeper to our heart and forget all the anxieties of the outer world.
Самадхи – конечная цель практики йоги, которая осуществляется посредством долговременной meditation. Yoga shows us how to achieve this inner state of bliss by gradually working with the body, prana, sensations, consciousness and heart. She shows us how to organize our life and behavior on all levels in order to arrive at this highest goal, which is usually reserved only for a few extraordinary mystics.

THE IMPORTANCE OF ASAN PRACTICE
Asana is connected with everyone steps of yoga, which are intertwined in various ways. Asana is part of the yama and niyama practices of life because it is a means of self-learning and self-discipline. Asana is a form of pranayama because through correct posture we can control our prana. Asana is a form of pratyahara because it gives us control over both our senses and our motor organs. Asana is a form of dharana because through it we can concentrate our energies. Finally, asana is a form of meditation because its correct performance requires that we keep our mind clear and active.
Apart from other aspects of yoga, asanas are also beneficial in their own right due to the fact that they maintain health and vitality, cure many diseases, even if we do not use postures for our spiritual development. Asanas relieve stress and tension and calm the nerves, which is a common problem in our frantic pace of life. They are an important part of a healthy lifestyle and have a therapeutic effect on both our body and our mind. For this reason, people who are not interested in the spiritual side of yoga can still find many benefits in the practice of asanas.

THE IMPORTANCE OF THE EIGHT STAGES OF YOGA
The eight limbs of yoga are something quite extraordinary. However, they also reflect the natural structure of our lives. It is not an artificial construction, but part of the natural movement of the body and mind.

our individual life, and it also affects our consciousness.
and in the main physical postures we adopt. For some of us, it might be holding our breath while sitting in front of a computer screen. For others, it is the energy we are able to put into our work.
tera, or an artist focused on painting a picture. Sensations absorb everything they perceive from others.

us are preoccupied with our anxieties, ambitions or conflicts and do not know how to use our consciousness to think about something transcendent.
just as it happens with an athlete with his effort, with an artist with his work, or with a believer with his deity. Samadhi also refers to those extreme states in which we reach the objects of our search, achieve success, achievements and the implementation of all plans that gives us great joy.
Most of the time we follow this process mechanically or unconsciously, guided more by our own desires than by a higher spiritual aspiration. Yoga shows us how to follow the process consciously in order to develop higher understanding and creativity. We are always doing yoga or striving to achieve some goal in life that will make us feel happier, more harmonious or wiser. The eight limbs of yoga give us guidance on how to do it in the best possible way and open us to higher spiritual aspirations.

2. AYURVEDA

Lurveda appeared on the Western scene later than yoga, following on its heels. Even 15 years ago, knowledge of Ayurveda was the lot of a small number of people who, following yoga, got acquainted with this great tradition. In the past few years, along with the growing interest in alternative and complementary medicine, Ayurveda has gained a lot of recognition. Now it manifests itself as one of the world's most important systems of spiritual-corporeal medicine.
Аюрведа предлагает уникальную систему лечения, основанную на корректировании образа жизни, индивидуализированных диетических программах, действенных травяных формулах и духовном фокусе йоги и meditation. Her deep classification of spirit-body types allows for a clear assessment of the individual constitution and how to heal a person holistically. This makes Ayurveda an ideal practice for disease prevention, longevity and creativity. It is not only a way to resist disease, although Ayurveda can do this quite well, applying specific treatment plans for any health complaint, from the common cold to serious diseases.
Ayurveda has become a major part of what we might call the "second phase" of interest in yoga, it is a healing technique and a healing tool. This is the basis of the first phase of interest in yoga as a system of physical exercises. People who delve into the therapeutic aspect of yoga, in essence, join Ayurveda because of the historical relationship of the two systems.
As the therapeutic aspect of yoga develops, its links with Ayurveda are sure to be revealed. This leads to a new interaction between the two disciplines, in which each of them energized by another. Yoga develops modern approaches through various forms of exercise, physical therapy, and psychology that arose originally from an encounter with modern medicine. Now she must look back at her traditional Ayurvedic medical roots and think about how to put them together into a coherent picture of her powerful healing potential.
Ayurveda is also facing modern medicine and the new health challenges created by today's information age. It is similarly self-regulating with new treatments and lifestyle changes. She comes into contact with new forms of yoga, especially in the West, which also expands her perspective. This new area of contact between yoga and Ayurveda, self-healing and self-realization is one of the most important trends in yoga and should become more significant in the future.

AYURVEDIC CONCEPT OF LIFE
Ayurveda means "the wisdom of life" (life in its deepest sense) as a creative and spiritual adventure in the reality of consciousness. The goal of such a life is not just health, but the harmony of the individual with the physical, mental and spiritual aspects of the Universe. In this respect, the concept of life (ayu) in Ayurveda goes far beyond any personal and materialistic definition and embraces the wholeness that we can become. Ayurveda defines true health or well-being (swatha) as the right balance of body, sensations, consciousness and soul (Atman or Purusha). It is a complete connection of the outer aspects of our being with its inner essence - pure awareness. Aligning the spine while doing the asana is part of this great alignment of the outer and inner aspects of our nature, which allows our energies to rise upward towards transformation.
The body is the foundation of everything we do. It should be strong, healthy and clean, free of toxins, with a good immune system, healthy appetite and physical endurance. Sensations are the tools through which we contact the outside world. They should be sharp and clear, responsive and free from unnatural needs and addictions. The psyche is the basis of our consciousness. She should be calm, balanced and receptive, free from emotional turmoil and harmful opinions. Behind the body and psyche is our soul, or inner consciousness, a sense of oneness with everything that
