When I was asked to write a preface to this book, I immediately agreed - because by that time I had been well acquainted with the Millers for two years. From time to time, true happiness falls to our lot: on the path of our life we meet amazing people - honest and pure, filled with a desire to help other people, radiating sincere love and kindness. Among these noblest representatives of the human race are Light and Brian Miller. I wholeheartedly support them in their efforts to heal and enlighten mankind, and I know that their labors are directed to a lofty goal. This goal is to transform a person, transform the society in which we live, and transform our entire planet. By asking me to write a preface to this book, they did me a great honor.
There are often situations in life that require us to make a choice. In some cases, the choice is not so important and we make it almost effortlessly. But sometimes our whole future life depends on it, and before making a decision, we have to think a lot and weigh all the pros and cons. Obviously, the color of the car is not nearly as important as the place of our children's future studies or the place of our future work.
But the most important of all possible choices arise when it comes to our health. Let's face it: when this question comes to our attention, it turns out that there really is nothing in the world more important than health. And how long you will live and how full your future life will be depends on the right choice here.
America is going through a health crisis these days. Two thirds of the population are overweight. Despite all the funds that the government spends on the health care system, medicine still does not know the cure for 80% of all known diseases. Moreover, 10% of diseases are caused by errors in the use of drugs and oversights of surgeons! But both cardiovascular and oncological diseases are two The leading causes of death in the US are largely preventable through proper diet, exercise, and a healthy lifestyle. Why spend so much money on healthcare? Something completely different is needed. It is necessary that people learn to eat right, exercise right and live in harmony with the natural rhythms and laws of nature.
Some significant similarities between the system of "natural hygiene" and Ayurveda caught my eye:
1. Toxins (ama) are considered the main cause of congestion, blockage of blood vessels and various diseases. First they upset the digestion, then they spread in the body and cause problems with other organs. To restore health, they must be removed.
2. The diet and lifestyle recommended for kapha is very similar to the Adjust to Life regimen, which promotes elimination of digestive waste, weight control, and strength through a diet rich in fresh vegetables and fruits.
3. Both the system of "natural hygiene" and Ayurveda recognize the special importance of the daily repeating natural cycles of digestion (pitta - digestion), assimilation (kapha - tissue building) and excretion (vata - movement). You should eat when digestion is most active, rest when the body absorbs nutrients, and remove waste from the body at a favorable time.
Many other ideas of Ayurveda are in perfect harmony with my ideas about health: taking responsibility for your own health, preparing your own food, choosing your own exercise, adjusting your diet to the changing seasons, and maintaining a healthy mindset.
As for aromatherapy, I have successfully used essential oils for aromatizing rooms and for inhalations in acute sinusitis. I was particularly interested in the relationship between smells, emotions and states of mind. I think that natural plant extracts can contribute to the growth, development and transformation of a person. The Miller couple's book describes many methods of using essential oils for self-healing. Both Ayurveda and aromatherapy give us hope for the healing of all mankind, and this book is a huge contribution to combination of these two systems. A step-by-step method of presenting the material, questionnaires for self-determination of your personal metabolic type, simple and accessible explanations of "how to do it" will allow the Western reader to easily perceive and apply these valuable methods of healing.

INTRODUCTION
Long time ago when
The ground was fresh and clean...
...there was a kingdom of happiness and health in the world, and people there lived in harmony with each other and with Mother Earth. The arts flourished there; everyone played musical instruments and sang, and everyone happily improved their skills and talents. Every adult was engaged in a business that served the good of the whole society, and this also gave him joy. And they devoted their free time to study, games and creativity.
Children in this kingdom were treated with respect and love. When they grew up, they began to be taught, revealing to them the secrets of the world around them. And they understood that in everything in the world there is a wise lesson and a generous gift. Every plant and animal had its place in the cycles of nature; every event opened up opportunities for growth. Children were carefully observed and encouraged to develop those abilities and skills for which they showed a natural inclination and interest. And since they were brought up in love and respect, they treated each other with kindness. The older children took care of their younger comrades. Study went hand in hand with play.
In this kingdom, the forests were carefully taken care of. Useful plants and brushwood for kindling were collected carefully, trying not to disturb the inhabitants of the forest thicket. The guardians of the forest carefully selected old and diseased trees for felling, so that the ecological balance was not disturbed. And when collecting plants, they carefully monitored so that not a single species was endangered.
Work in the fields and in the gardens brought great joy to the farmers. Each family carefully collected waste, which was then transported to the fields to fertilize the soil. Straw remained in the fields after the harvest, and during floods the fields were covered with water, and therefore there was no need for weeding, and the soil was rich and fertile. In the markets, fruits and vegetables were exchanged for necessary goods and services.
Skillful craftsmen and artists also brought their products to the market. On the streets and in the houses, people delighted each other with music and songs, games and dances. All kinds of sports were encouraged - swimming and running, gymnastics, archery and sports games. The inhabitants of the kingdom were strong, brave and happy.
And among them were healers - the righteous, well-versed in medicine and chemistry - who prepared medicines and incense, perfumes, oils and wines. They collected and skillfully processed herbs, roots and flowers, tree bark and
