Lung Meridian

Lung Meridian
Daily activity from 3 to 5 hours.
The movement of energy in the meridian is centrifugal.
The diagnostic clue is the nose.
Physiological function of respiration.
Know the qi of the whole organism (provide the exchange between external and internal qi).
Responsible for the skin and hairline.
Regulates water exchange (sweating).
Helps the heart in carrying out its function of blood circulation.
The lung meridian belongs to the manual Yin meridians, paired, that is, there are right and left channels, which are closely interconnected. According to the classical concept, the meridian has internal and external passages.
External course – begins in the first intercostal space, rises to the collarbone, goes along the front surface of the shoulder joint and shoulder, along the forearm, passes through the tai-yuan point, then along the outer edge of the short abductor muscle of the 1st finger and ends at the nail bed of the 1st finger on the radial side. It has one branch: from the point of le-qué it goes to the back surface of the hand, further along the radial surface of 2 fingers to the point of shang-yang.
Internal course – starts at the level of zhong-wan, goes down and goes to the large intestine, wraps around it in a spiral, goes up to the lungs, where it branches, then rises to the bronchi and trachea.
From a traditional point of view, the lung meridian is a functional system that includes the entire respiratory system and skin. Chinese traditional medicine defines the main functions of the lung as follows.
The lungs control breathing and metabolism.
Pathological changes in the lung affect the function of the sweat glands and the biochemical composition of the hair. The good condition of hair and skin depends on the condition of the lungs.
The lungs control the nasopharynx, larynx, tonsils, trachea and bronchi, which are closely interconnected.
Such functional definitions are confirmed in the practice of acupuncture. Acupressure of the points of this meridian has a beneficial effect in diseases of the lung, bronchi, trachea and nasopharynx, as well as in bronchial asthma. Effective is also the impact on the points of the meridian of the lungs in diseases of the face and pain in the upper extremities. Successful application acupuncture of meridian points for eczema, allergic rashes and some other skin diseases is confirmed by the ancient concept of “the effect of the lung on skin function.”
It must be remembered that the time of maximum activity of the meridian is from three to five o’clock, and during this period the channel is most effectively tonified. The time of minimum activity is from 15:00 to 17:00, and at this time it is more effective to slow down the meridian. The biorhythms of various organs calculated for more than a thousand years by ancient doctors are confirmed in our time by modern clinical observations. In modern medicine, it is well known that asthma attacks most often occur in the early morning, that is, from 3 to 5 hours, which corresponds to the maximum energy activity in the lung meridian. In the practice of acupuncture, there are −
Redundancy syndrome: fever, sweating, a ringing cough with pain, an abundance of sputum, a palm that is hot to the touch, pain in the back and shoulder, shoulder muscle tension.
Deficiency syndrome: chills, cold sweats, runny nose, hoarse cough, dry throat, dizziness, pain in the collarbone and chest, numbness, coldness of the upper extremities, skin itching, insomnia.
command points:
tonic – tai yuan;
sedative – chi-tse;
accomplice – tai-yuan;
Lo-point – le-tsue;
analgesic – kung-tsui;
sympathetic – fei-shu;
signal – zhung-fu.
Knowing these data helps to correct acupressure in a certain way. The energy channel of the lungs has eleven points.
