My so critical rejection of yoga does not mean at all that I do not see in it one of the greatest achievements of the Eastern spirit, inventions of the human mind. I hope I have made it clear enough that my criticism is only directed against the practice of yoga by Western peoples. The spiritual development of the West went in completely different ways than in the East, and therefore it created, perhaps, the most unfavorable conditions for the use of yoga. Western civilization has barely reached the age of one millennium; it must first get rid of its barbaric one-sidedness. This means, first of all, a deeper vision of human nature. By suppressing and controlling the unconscious, no vision can be achieved - much less by imitation of methods nurtured by completely different psychological conditions. Over time, the West will invent its own yoga, it will be based on the foundation laid by Christianity.
