The Swiss franc (SHF), which is subdivided into 100 centimes. There are coins in denominations of 5, 10, 20 centimes, 0.5, 1, 2 and 5 francs, as well as banknotes in denominations of 10, 20, 50, 100, 500 and 1000 francs.

Banks are open from 8.00 to 16.00 (some until 22.00) on weekdays (break from 12.00 to 14.00). On Saturdays, banks are open from 8.00 to 16.00 (break from 12.00 to 14.00). Currency exchange offices at airports and railway stations are open daily from 8.00 to 22.00, often around the clock.

Currency can be exchanged at banks, many large stores (best rate), airports and some travel agencies, and most hotels (usually the worst rate).

Major traveler’s checks and credit cards are accepted everywhere, the exchange rate in banks is extremely stable and has a small commission. Preference is given to checks in US dollars, pounds sterling or Swiss francs.

VAT (6.5%) is included in the price of all goods. VAT refunds are available for purchases over CHF 500. To do this, you need to take the appropriate check in the store (you need a passport) and present it at customs along with the goods.

In a special window on the territory of the airport, VAT is paid on these documents or a mark is made in the documents, with the help of which the tax is refunded by bank transfer. In some large stores, VAT is refunded on the spot upon presentation of a passport.

Prices in Liechtenstein are among the highest in Europe. From May to August, during the peak tourist season, they increase even more. Bargaining is not accepted, prices are fixed in all outlets. The system of measures and weights is metric.
