Kakopetria

Kakopetria (Greek: Κακοπετριά) is a village in Cyprus, located 55 kilometers from the capital, Nicosia, on the northern side of the foothills of the Troodos Mountains. It is located at an altitude of 667 meters and is the highest in the Solea Valley. There are about 1,200 permanent residents as of 2001. The number of people increases during the summer months due to tourists. Also in summer, cattle are taken to the mountains to protect them from the heat. The settlement is surrounded by forest and washed by the waters of the rivers Kargotis and Garillis. They flow into the Gulf of Morphou along with the Clarios River.

The mayor of the village is Dimitrakis Evgeniou.
