Yavne

Yavne (Hebrew: יַבְנֶה‎) is a city in the Central District of Israel, 24 kilometers south of Tel Aviv and a few kilometers from the seashore.

History
In the Pentateuch, Yavne is mentioned as Yavniel (Joshua 15:11), a frontier town between the allotments of the tribes of Dan and Judah. Later, its walls were destroyed by King Uzziah in battle against the Philistines (2 Chronicles 26:6).
The Romans called this city Jamnia. After the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 A.D. e. Rabbi Johanan ben Zakkai moved the Sanhedrin to Yavne. It is believed that it was Kerem Yavne who determined the canonical order of the books of the Old Testament. The expression “Yavne and her wise men” is the wording of the request with which, according to legend, Johanan ben Zakai addressed the Roman commander Vespasian. These words enshrined the symbolic meaning of the city for the Jewish tradition.

The city houses the tomb of one of Muhammad’s companions, Abu Hurayr. The Crusaders renamed the city Ibelin and built a castle in it in 1141. The city entered the lordship of Ramla and was under the control of the feudal family of the Ibelins. He surrendered to the mercy of Saladin in 1187.

Annual income of the population
According to the CSB, in 2000 there were 10,910 paid workers and 966 self-employed or self-employed in the city. The average monthly salary in 2000 for employees was NIS 5,699.
