Baghdati

Baghdati (Georgian: ბაღდათი) is a city in the Imereti region in the western part of Georgia. The administrative center of the Bagdati municipality. In 1940-1990 it was called Mayakovsky. City status was granted in 1981.

Geography
The city is located on the Khanistskali River (the left tributary of the Rioni), on the edge of the Ajamet Forest.
It is located at a distance of 19 km from the railway station of Rioni, 25 km from the city of Kutaisi.

Culture
The city has a Mayakovsky museum and a theater. The Mayakovsky Museum was opened in 1941. It was founded in the house where V. V. Mayakovsky was born and lived for a short time. In the museum of V. V. Mayakovsky, mostly photographs and his quotes. After that, a theater was built, which was named after V. V. Mayakovsky. Scenes from the works of V. V. Mayakovsky were shown in this theater.
