Gadabay (Azerbaijani: Gədəbəy) is a city and the administrative center of the Gadabay region of Azerbaijan. Located in the foothills of the Lesser Caucasus, 51 km from the railway station Dollar.
According to the “Caucasian calendar” of 1912, 266 people lived in the village of Gadabek, Elizvetpol district, Elizavetpol province, mostly Azerbaijanis, indicated as “Tatars”. According to the all-Union census of 1989, 5049 people lived in the urban-type settlement of Gadabay, and in 1990 the settlement received the status of a city. The city has a developed food and woodworking industry; production of building materials. Copper ores are mined.
