Bureghavan

Byureghavan (arm. Բյուրեղավան) is a city in Armenia in the Kotayk region.

History
As a village founded in 1945. From 1945 to 1974 the settlement was called “Arzni”. There is a crystal factory in the city, from which it got its name – “Byureghavan”. (“Byuregh” – means Kristal, “avan” – means “Village”. In 1974, the village received the status of “Urban-type settlement” and was renamed “Byureghavan”. In 1994, Byureghavan received the status of a city, by the decision of the National Assembly of the Republic Armenia (Parliament) In Soviet times, Byureghavan was a large industrial center.Akhz (Armenian Crystal Factory), Marble Processing Plant, “Arzni” Mineral Water Plant, House-Building Plant, Geological Survey worked. The city is located in the resort area of ​​the Arzni sanatorium. From the city Mounts Ararat, Hatis, Aragats, Ara are visible.Near the city, in the gorge, the river Hrazdan (formerly Zangu) flows.

Since 2008, Hakob Balasyan has been the mayor of the city.
