Talin

Talin (arm. Թալին) is a city in the Aragatsotn region of Armenia.

Geography
It is located on the Yerevan-Gyumri highway, 66 km northwest of Yerevan, 18 km north of the Karmrashen railway station.

History
In the V-VII centuries. it was the center of the Armenian principality. The city has a Small Church and a Big Temple. The Small Church is located in the center of Talin and is a three-apse cruciform church with a central dome composition. It was built in the second half of the 7th century by Prince Nerseh Kamsarakan. The Great Talin Temple was built by the Kamsarakans in the 7th century. It is a three-apse domed basilica. An earthquake in 1840 destroyed the dome and most of the southern and western walls. The reliefs from the temple are in the Yerevan Historical Museum.
