Diving in Malaysia

Magnificent Malaysia is surrounded on all sides by the sea. In the northern part, the territory of the country is washed by the South China Sea, and in the northeast, the waves of the Sulu Sea are splashing. These vast expanses are divided into 5 marine reserves, which are designed to increase and protect the treasures of the depths.
Diving in Malaysia attracts both beginners and pros who have a wealth of diving experience behind them. Many hotel complexes in the country have fully equipped dive centers that provide access to the stunning beauty of the coastal waters of Malaysia.

“Big Mountain”
This dive site is an extended oval-shaped reef that hides under the water surface. This place is very popular among local divers, because here you can see a giant whale shark. In addition, there are huge colonies of sea anemones and soft corals, which are loved by numerous colorful fish.

Mini Mountain
This coral reef will also be very interesting for divers. The maximum depth in these places is 22 meters. A large number of granite boulders are scattered on the local sandy bottom. Swallow fish, lion fish and parrot fish settled in picturesque coral gardens. “Mini Gora” will definitely appeal to fans of night diving, because at night the representatives of the underwater fauna leave their shelters and start hunting.

Terumbu Kiri
Here, boulders towering on the sea surface will appear before the eyes of divers. The bottom of Terumbu Kiri is distinguished by a unique rocky landscape, the beauty of which is complemented by bright coral thickets. The nature of this dive site is rich in both hard and soft corals. Of course, flocks of fish of a bizarre color will necessarily accompany scuba divers who have plunged here.

Eel Garden
This dive site is one of the deepest in the Pilau Mabul area. The maximum depth is 26 meters. The bottom here densely covers the silty layer. If you swim with caution, you can meet moray eels and sea gobies, which have chosen crevices in the rocks as their home.

Barracuda Reef
Upper part of the reef “Barracuda” is eight meters above the surface of the water. The first diver to encounter here will be Fusiliers and Napoleon fish. Once the diving depth reaches 30 meters, the diver will be able to see coral gardens, manta rays, tuna and surgeon fish. Sea currents passing through the dive site also attract catfish to these places. If you go down to the very bottom, you can watch barracudas and whitenose sharks that love to relax on the soft sand.
