Diving in Cambodia

The islands off the coast of Cambodia offer great opportunities for diving enthusiasts. The waters here are famous for a rich variety of hard and soft corals, as well as a large number of large pelagic inhabitants and reef fish. Most of these islands are uninhabited, so in between diving “sessions” a tourist can relax on the white sand or swim along the coast with a snorkel and mask.

“Koh Koun”
In the water area of ”Koh Koun” there are three interesting locations at once, two of which are located in the western part of the island. The stones located at the water’s edge descend to a depth of 17 meters, gradually turning into a sandy plateau. This dive site is attractive with coral gardens, anemones, parrot fish and clusters of yellow red mullet. In addition, these places are often visited by giant snappers and sweet lips.
Another dive point is a coral reef located in the south of the island, directly on the surf line. The maximum depth here is 15 meters. The dive site is ideal for those who prefer diving at night. Night dives in the company of electric stingrays, moray eels and imposing swimming sharks will be truly exciting and unforgettable.

“Koh Rong Saloem”
Koh Rong Saloem is much larger than Koh Koun. There are three long beaches on its territory. To the north is a fishing village with 30 huts. Tourists do not visit this island very often, so diving in these places can rightly be called exclusive. Only experienced divers can dive here.

“Cobia Point”
“Cobia Point” in translation into Russian means “cobia party”. This name is due to the fact that the dive site has become a haven for numerous cobias – two-meter fish that have many features in common with reef sharks. These marine inhabitants do not pose a danger to divers, but they tend to show remarkable curiosity towards uninvited guests.

“Rocky bay”
If a diver wants to admire the corals as much as possible and examine them as carefully as possible, then he should stop his choice on “Rocky bay”. It is enough to dive only to a depth of 10 meters to give yourself a colorful underwater walk. In addition, this dive site will allow you to observe young fish and the life of nudibranchs.

Sponge Garden
Such an unusual name of the dive site is due to the fact that sea sponges have accumulated in huge numbers in this area, densely sticking around the entire surface of the reef. Between them are often found scorpion fish, a lot of shrimps and crabs. This place also attracts barracudas and cobias, who like to fuss around divers.

“Two Tone Garden”
This dive site is a combination of two absolutely different places for diving. First, the diver enters the reef, which is covered with gardens of unique beauty. As we move forward, the reefs gradually give way to endless clearings of whip corals and pink anemones. These landscapes look especially impressive at night, when scorpions and electric stingrays swim everywhere.
