McLaren, McLaren

1963 can be safely called a turning point in the history of world racing, because it was then that the legendary McLaren team was created, which became one of the best in the 60s and won worldwide fame.
For Bruce McLaren, not just a racer, but also an engineer and the main inspirer of the team, racing has always been in the first place, so in the first 5 years he won the Grand Prix, and his team took various prizes of a wide variety of races with enviable consistency.
The very first McLaren was the M1 with an Oldsmobil engine. After some time trying to work on various car projects in 1966, Bruce McLaren began working with Ford, which was another step towards wild popularity. In 1967 at CanAm, McLaren and Danny Hulme climbed to the front of the series and won five out of six events.
In 1968, McLaren’s wave of rise began with the new McLaren M7, powered by a Ford Cosworth DFv engine, which became a kind of guide to the world of Formula 1 racing.

In the Formula 1 Race of Champions, Bruce McLaren won, and that was the beginning of the victory procession. So in the CanAm series, McLaren and Hulme won all 11 races, which, of course, was just a stunning stroke of luck.
Despite such an amazing takeoff, the fate of the team was tragic in the future – testing the M15, Danny Hulme severely burned his hands, and Bruce McLaren died on the M8. It was a huge shock for the team, from which it was hard to recover, but despite this, the history of McLaren’s glory and victories did not end, but only began to gain momentum.

Success came with Ron Dennis when he took over the company in 1982. McLaren International has achieved many successes over the decades of its existence. So, for example, in 1984, the McLaren team did the almost impossible – they won 12 of the 16 stages of the championship.
The McLaren team won more and more laurels every year and from 1988 to 1991 constantly won, absolutely not accepting any losses.
Another significant event in the history of the company was the creation by Gordon Murray of the McLaren Cars Ltd supercar in 1989, nicknamed the F1, which has a 12-cylinder BMW engine with 550 hp. and the possibility of developing a speed of 386 km / h.
Subsequently, McLaren signed a contract with Mercedes and, despite the fact that Hakkinen won the title in 1999 champion, the constructors’ championship went to Ferrari, pushing the team back.
