Ness Ziona

Ness Ziona (Hebrew: נס ציונה‏‎) is a city in Israel, located in the Central District.
The name means “Banner to Zion” in translation and is given to the city after a phrase in Jeremiah 4:6. (“Set up a standard in Zion, run, do not stop, for I will bring disaster and great destruction from the north.”)

Founded in 1883, received city status in 1992. Occupied area – 16 km²
The city is home to the Israel Institute for Biological Research.

Population
According to the Israel Central Bureau of Statistics, the population for 2016 is 46,891.
Of these, 99.6% are Jews and representatives of other non-Arab nationalities.
