Zakho (Arabic: زاخو‎) is a city in Iraq in the province of Dahuk.

The city was known to the ancient Greeks. Because of the large Jewish community in the Middle Ages, the city of Zakho was called the “Jerusalem of the East.” Due to persecution that began at the end of the 19th century, local Jews became one of the first settlers to Palestine in the 1920s; very many Jews moved from here to Israel in the 1950s.

The city of Zakho is the center of the Diocese of Zakho of the Chaldean Catholic Church.
