Khobi (Georgian ხობი) is a city in northwestern Georgia, the center of the Khobi district of the Samegrelo-Upper Svaneti region. Population – 5.6 thousand inhabitants (2002).
Geography
Located on the river Khobi in the Colchis lowland.
Zh.-d. station on the Armavir-Samtredia line.
In the village of Nojikhevi, located 3 km from Khobi, there is a 7th-century church built as a tetraconch.
Notable Natives and Residents
Chikovani, Grigol Samsonovich (1910-1981) – Georgian Soviet writer, screenwriter, playwright.
Manuchar Tskhadaya is a Georgian Greco-Roman wrestler, bronze medalist at the London Olympics.
