Rifa
Rif or Rif-Esh-Sharqi (Arabic الرفاع) is the second largest city in Bahrain.
Geography
Located in the central part of the island of Bahrain, 7 km from Manama and 15 km from the international airport. Most of the city is in the Central Governorate, although a small part is in the Southern Governorate.
Historically, the city is divided into two parts – western and eastern. There are numerous sights, the most significant of which is Fort Riffa.
Population
The population according to the 2001 census is 79,550; figures for 2012 report a population of 115,495. It is inhabited mainly by Sunni Muslims, while in general, Shia Muslims predominate in Bahrain.
