Zerdab

Zerdab (Azerbaijani Zərdab) is a city in Azerbaijan, the administrative center of the Zerdab region. It is located on the left bank of the Kura River, 35 km south of the Ujar railway station.

History
In the 19th century, the village of Zardob was part of the Geokchay district of the Baku province. In 1935 it became the administrative center of the Zardob region, but in 1962 it became part of the Ujar region of the Azerbaijan SSR. In 1965, the Zardob region was restored and the village again became a regional center, and in 1968 it received the status of a city.
The name comes from the Persian “zard” (yellow) and “ab” (water) – yellow water.

Economy
Light and food industry enterprises are located in the city.

Population
According to the Encyclopedic Dictionary of Brockhaus and Efron, published in the late XIX – early XX centuries, the population of the village consisted of 1538 Aderbeidzhan Tatars (Azerbaijanis).
According to the all-Union census of 1989, 8450 people lived in Zardob.

– Javadov Babek Allahgulu oglu – doctor of the admission and diagnostic department of the State Healthcare Institution of the City Clinical Hospital of the Emergency Medical Service No. 25 of the city of Volgograd
