Shabran

Shabran (Azerbaijani Şabran) is a city and the administrative center of the Shabran region of Azerbaijan. Located in the foothills of the Greater Caucasus, on the Samur-Absheron Canal, 120 km northwest of Baku.

History
In 1961, Divichi received the status of a city, and in 2010 the city was renamed Shabran after the name of the historical region and the medieval city of the same name, on the site of which Divichi was founded.

Economy, transport
There are railway transport enterprises, a carpet factory, a dairy and crushed stone factories. The Baku-Rostov-on-Don highway and the Baku-Moscow railway pass through the city.
