Baños is a city in Ecuador, which is located in the province of Tungurahua in the eastern Andes. The population is about 18,000 people. The city is located at the foot of the Tungurahua volcano.

In 1999, the government completely evacuated the population of the city in connection with the warning of volcanologists about the upcoming eruption of the Tungurahua volcano. The city remained unscathed and only covered with a layer of ash, so a few months later, the inhabitants were able to obtain from the authorities the right to return.
