A visa to Liberia for Russians in 2017 is needed. To open it, you need to use consular services in European, African countries or the United States of America, where there are consulates and embassies of Liberia. The closest geographically, that is, the diplomatic missions of London, Paris or Berlin that are most accessible to Russians. There is an option by which a tourist can open a visa on arrival, but for this you need to fulfill a number of important requirements and conditions.

Visa on arrival

What are these requirements? A list of them is presented below:
there is no diplomatic representation of Liberia in the home country of the foreign tourist;
the entry permit is approved by the Liberian Migration Service, the local sponsor has already paid a guarantee amount for the tourist;
a foreign citizen has a confirmation that he is allowed to enter, sent from the capital city of Monrovia, and the same information was received by the air carrier: the name of the person entering, passport details, exact information about the flight number and the timing of his arrival at the Liberian airport, information about the future address of residence.
If these conditions are not met and the airline operating the flight does not have data on the passenger, then the tourist will simply not be allowed on board. The ticket must be supported by a telex from Monrovia from a local airline employee.

Visa through the consulate
This way of obtaining a visa is hampered by the absence of the Russian representation of Liberia. You have to contact the employees of the European or American consulates of this African country or, which is quite exotic, get a visa through neighboring African states where the Liberian consular service operates.

Africa
A visa request through the African Ivory Coast or Sierra Leone must provide the following documents:

an unexpired foreign passport that is valid for the intended date of crossing the Liberian border;
two color passport photographs 30*40 mm;
a completed visa application form, the language of filling is English.
At the special request of the consulate, a full travel itinerary, an international certificate confirming vaccination against yellow fever, may be required.

You will have to wait one or two days for a visa response. The visa fee is $100. In case of urgent registration, that is, on the same day, the consulate will require you to pay the amount of 150 dollars.

Europe
The European consular services of Liberia accept documents according to a slightly different, more stringent list:

the foreign passport must be valid for at least another six months on the date of application for the Berlin branch and six months after returning home for the London branch;
two color photographs of the same passport format, one for Berlin;
two copies of the visa application form;
an invitation letter confirming the place of residence;
documentary justification of the financial ability to travel and live comfortably in the territory of Liberia for the entire specified period;
certificate of international standard that the tourist is vaccinated against yellow fever;
paid medical insurance for the entire trip is needed for Berlin and not needed for London.

Cost and terms
A single-entry visa to Liberia is issued in a week, valid for three months, costs 75 euros or 60 pounds. Multiple entry visas are issued for six months, one and two years. You will have to pay for it from 150 euros / 160 pounds to 300 euros / 320 pounds. An urgent single-entry visa on the day of application costs 125 euros / 80 pounds.

transit entry
Transit entry is allowed without a visa, if the transfer takes no longer than two days, and the tourist does not leave the airport. Tickets are required to confirm transit.
