Tourists arriving on the territory of the principality should know the key rules for the import and export of various things. Favorable conditions are established for funds – the amount of imported foreign currency is not limited. Adult guests of the country arriving from the Eurozone can carry up to 200 cigarettes, up to 50 cigars, or 250 grams of pipe tobacco. With regard to alcohol, the rules allow the import of up to 1 liter of spirits and up to 2 liters of wine not stronger than 15%.
For personal items, standard conditions apply – that is, arriving in the Principality can freely bring clothes, sports and music equipment, photo and video equipment with all necessary consumables, as well as goods worth up to 100 Swiss francs.
Products are allowed to be imported in quantities based on one day for one person. Baby food is allowed to be imported in the same quantities.
For tourists from other regions, the rules prohibit the import of dairy and meat products, food of animal origin, including animal skins (especially strict rules apply to the skins of cats, crocodiles and lizards) and products from them, as well as plants.
If, during the inspection of personal belongings and hand luggage of an arriving person, prohibited products are found, penalties are applied to such a person and a fine is levied.
As for medicines and narcotic drugs, they are allowed to be imported only with an official prescription.
